I'd expect Tesla sales in last quarter to be decent as they sold of the last of their Y's over here, before having junipers come out, think the boat came into Southampton in early feb, and I know a large leasing company bought all they could.

My 3 is due to be replaced, I ordered a Y, not because I love elon, he has always been a far right, far out guy, his problem now is the other far right, far out guy has given him power he shouldn't have.
But for 1 reason only, supercharger network.

However then I watched some of the American senate (i think) hearings where it became clear that musk had sacked amongst thousands of others, 5 independent inspectors who were investigating Tesla for various alleged offences, and it tipped me over, and i cancelled the Y.

As for the drive, it's a smoother drive and requires less effort than the wife's leaf, it's got plenty of power and is decent in the twisties, seats are not great, my old merc c class was alot more comfortable on long drives, and if it didn't beep incessantly about nothing, id like it more.

Not sure what I'll get to replace the 3, maybe an EV6, maybe a merc or bmw, but I can't see it being another Tesla.

Like it or not, elon is more linked to Tesla brand than any other ceo of a company, and so feelings about him have a greater impact on sales because of that.
    Perhaps similar to delorean?

My local bank of Tesla superchargers is open to all-comers; I used it myself once to get home.  Perhaps it wasn't getting enough business as a Tesla-only facility?

Tesla claim that they always intended to open up their charging network to other cars. Although I don't really believe that as they haven't opened them all up and they installed them with cables only long enough to reach the rear lefthand side of the car -which means non Teslas often have to connect to the 'wrong' charger and take one out of action ( which annoys the Tesla drivers).   That said they are usually the cheapest chargers around, they are fast  and there are now over a hundred of them in the UK  open to non-Teslas.

I used my local Tesla with my MG4 as a test before my continental holiday last summer. They were a very useful option to have. The app will only show the ones which are accessible to you which I was reminded once when I tried to charge at a bank of Tesla's alongside a bank of Ionitys, so no harm done!

The newer Tesla chargers have longer cables but I'm ok with the MG4 anyway.

Comparison of YTD figures for last year (left) and this year. Because the figures are slightly delayed they may not tally with SMMT figures which I think we might see on Friday. Volkswagen aside, Tesla is holding its ground (12.1% market share) with the other big players from last year. Total YTD sales are up at this point by in the region of 25%.

Edit: A couple of screenshots from X suggesting Tesla sales in China have been recovering after production was limited during the switch to Juniper. Perhaps China buyers are less troubled by Musk’s antics. I have not seen any reports of cars or Tesla premises being vandalised there.

Europe sales are still down significantly YTD despite some recovery in March which begs the question why haven’t they fallen more in the UK? Is it political - are UK buyers devoid of principles - or is it something else? Did European buyers choose Tesla because they are more progressive and UK buyers choose Tesla because our charging network is so poor?

Just musing on why the UK is proving more loyal to Tesla than the rest of Europe (and if it is down to the charging network) I just wonder how many of those Tesla owners/drivers considering defecting to other brands still use Tesla chargers or are they also avoiding the Supercharger network on principle? I suspect not but, perhaps, some are sufficiently principled to do so. Sometimes, though, no matter how principled one might consider oneself to be, convenience and cost saving win out - that’s why most of us still use fossil fuels for space heating and DHW.

Has anyone noticed Tesla chargers being unusually quiet recently?

It might be UK owners feel less 'invested' in the brand of car they 'get' because almost all sales are company cars?
    I think....

There may be something in that. I jokingly suggested a new Tesla bumper sticker the other day to add to the range: "Company Car: Sorry, I had no choice"!
    Ha!  I like that one.

Why the obsession with Tesla? Only sold 1.8 million vehicles globally in 2024. A fall on 2023.  The UK market alone is unlikely to revive Tesla's longer term fortunes.
