Jus thought I’d post this for the benefit of those who believe the UK press is anti EV. It is amazing how many pro EV stories of little significance make the papers. The sheer number of stories about new charging points being opened continues to amaze me, far outweighing the negative stories we see.

TBH - that looks like an advertising press release sent to the local paper luckily enough for the guesthouse to be a quiet news week

I'm sure the North Wales Pioneer; circulation less than 3000 and actual paid copies fewer than 600 will be delighted to be used as an example of the UK press. I'm not sure how many will be convinced by your evidence though, although I suppose it might have been tongue in cheek humour..

It appears sentiment is mixed in London about Oil and also about ULEZ. Given the public awareness of the Climate Crisis and the thousands of deaths reported from pollution I am surprised at the Uxbridge result.

I posted yesterday (on the EV good news thread) how EVs had taken a much increased share of the business contract hire (BCH) market but the picture is less rosy on the PCH side

New EV demand falls in H1 2023

The share of personal contract hire (PCH) sales enquiries for all electric vehicles (hybrid, plugin and battery) fell from 34.6% in the first-half of 2022 to 22.9% this year. That represented a 33% reduction in personal demand for electric vehicles and the first fall seen by the car leasing comparison website since its records began.

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 9.9% of PCH vehicle enquiries in the first-half of the year, while hybrids and plugin hybrids accounted for 10.3% and 2.7% respectively.

If all the people who didn't achieve the manufacturer's claimed mpg for their ICE vehicle made complaints the dealerships would be overwhelmed.

The issue isn't the manufacturers trying to hoodwink their customers, it's the unrealistic statutory fuel economy/range tests that are the problem - EV & ICE. The main problem with EVs is that the difference between the warm weather tested range & the reality of cold weather operation can be significant.

Saying that, my Model 3 claims it will do 298 miles on a charge & that's at the upper end of truthful. It can be done, but it takes a lot of restraint & you have to careful from mile 1.

Yes, WLTP is the problem but it is more accurate for ICEVs. We discussed this a while back on page 97:
