Virgin Media Broadband - Price Changes

Options
Hello,

I received this email from Virgin Media about my broadband, the contract finishes next month and the price change is just yikes! It seems like there are many that have got this email and the price change varies.

So make sure you check when your contract runs out and either haggle for a better price or shop around for another broadband provider.

That comes to which broadband providers would you recommend and why?

Has anyone used Utility Warehouse broadband before? The reviews online don't bode well.

I'll have to ring them on the weekend and haggle for a lower price and see what discount they can offer me otherwise I'll be leaving them for good.

Thanks,
J

You'll have to cancel to get the retention offers but 100MB is £16 currently, £21 for 200, £28 for 350 so you are overpaying whichever way you go with that current contract

I'm fuming that I am overpaying, that is on me as well for being lazy. I'm going to crack down on them over the weekend and get that price lowered to a reasonable amount, I will haggle and if they don't I'm just going to cancel my broadband with them. Half the time the WiFi drops off, it's slow, it randomly disconnects and reconnects.

It's going to be a mission to call them at that time, I leave for work at 8am, tomorrow I have an appointment so it will have to be later in the day, but I'm going to definitely call them tomorrow.

Let us know how you get on.👍

Similar situation but I've got to contact Sky soon to cancel. I hate all this stuff, having to haggle and threaten to leave.

Just looked on line and my offer to renew broadband only will be £35.50 per month. The whole package TV/phone/BB goes to £111 from £65pm.

I can get BB (same speeds as Sky) for £22 then just subscribe to NOW TV for £10 to fulfill my TV needs, no sports/cinema packs of course but I don't care about that now.🤔

    I'm on the WhatsApp chat and after getting transferred to a second agent, she has said this;

The offers / deals that you see online are for new customers to experience our services after the 18 months contract they are charged standard price.

Any deal or offer would be offered for one time only and after contract ends, we charge all the customers the actual cost of the services they have.

However, the best that we can offer you for M100 Broadband only would be £36.44

    How does that sound?
I've told her that is still too much & that she can surely give me a better discount rate.

I think I'll have to accept the offer, a saving of £11.31 per month, I guess it isn't too bad. I'll soon be moving out to my own place and can change the billing details on the account to someone else, at least I can leave knowing the monthly bill won't be the £48!

I don't fancy being on the phone all day trying to battle it out with them.

Just be careful they don't put you on an 12/18 month contract. If you are moving out I'm not sure it's transferable to a new name or the new property.

True, I'll send them a message now on Twitter and ask them that.
