I have attempted to update my phone license, but it kept failing.
My details don't match. My driving licence does not include my middle name. But my passport does.
Do I just apply for a new license, my license is clean.

Does it really matter i my middle name is not inc?
Can you not use anything else like a bank statement and council tax letter and or rent book?0 -
You don't need a new licence. Unless you have a licence restricted because of medical reasons, your licence (i.e. your "entitlement to drive") lasts until you are 70.0

You're right regarding entitlement, but if it's a photocard "licence" then failure to renew it may risk the holder a £1,000 fine.Quite true. But the licence and the photocard are two entirely separate entities. The offence of holding a recently expired photocard is very rarely prosecuted and if action is taken it usually attracts a fixed penalty of £100. In the unlikely event of a case reaching court it would attract a fine of half a week's net income (reduced by a third for a guilty plea) and, in common with all offences, a first time offender would be fined no more than 75% of the statutory maximum (before discount). Nobody would pay a fine of £1,000 for the offence unless they were persistent offenders with a very high income and they contested the matter and were found guilty following a trial. Descriptions of motoring offences often come with a government warning attached threatening the statutory maximum fine. Whilst in theory those warnings are perfectly accurate, when considering what would really happen, they become disreputable.0

No need for passport. They take DL details, new photo while you are there & send it off. Should get it back within a week. This even worked during covid lockdowns.

Maybe the confusion has come from the offence of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence £100 and three points on the fixed penalty. No, there was no confusion, DB. I simply assumed and didn't check! I must say it's odd that the offence is not eligible for a fixed penalty, but there it is.0
