Sensory said:It's not your disability that's preventing you from obtaining photo ID; it's simply your choice to not obtain them.
I can't drive and haven't travelled internationally for over a decade, yet I still keep my provisional driving licence and passport valid. I obtained both purely for the purposes of identification, because the UK lacks national ID cards.
Granted I could apply for a passport but why when there are other official methods already available which I use.

masonic said:Which other official forms of photo ID are there? We might be getting council issued photo ID for voting soon, but until then I'm only aware of passport and driving licence photocard.
Examples of acceptable photographic ID are:
- Photocard Driving Licence (an expired photocard does NOT invalidate the licence)
- A valid passport
- An expired passport
- Formal ID Cards (armed forces, police, student union, company ID card)
- Tachograph Card
- Local Authority/Taxi ID
- Blue Badge (parking for people with disabilities)
- Firearms Certificate/Shotgun Licence

For a current account?I'm very surprised that any bank would accept a company ID card as proof of identity for any purpose.Edit: list seems to have been reproduced from here: https://www.ukroed.org.uk/faqs/i-see-you-have-to-prove-identity-using-a-photographic-card-i-e-driving-licence-but-can-the-trainer-ask-for-further-details-such-as-signature-or-place-of-work-etc/0 -

Why should I have to accept rules are rules and I must move on when there are equally other means of identification available?
Chase keeps their costs down and passes the savings on to people who are willing to accept them.
I'm sure you'll be happy with Marcus.
My question though remains; why must Chase adopt a limited photo identity process when there are other methods using photo identity?
It is not so much a case of disrespect of the rules but a simple question in why are they limited when those with a disability cannot meet Chase requirements.
Chase is available for yourself, as mentioned by board member Sensory, its possible for you to obtain a passport in order to obtain a Chase account, I certainly do know that the vast majority on this forum who say they're unable to obtain a Chase account, actually can obtain an account if they took an 'extra step' be it a compatible phone or passport, they don't take the view that "I don't have the credentials to verify the necessary ID" and move on. They simply come on here and moan, moan, wail, wail, life is so unfair blah blah blah.
I do feel there's perhaps misplaced anger on your part MichaelAP. Why not contact your MP, explain your feelings, ask if he/she can help.1 -

Businesses must follow the law, and if they can't do so with your alternative methods of ID, they will not accept it.

Thank you everyone….. My Blue Badge with Photo ID has helped on other occasions, normally with a proof of address.
I’m good and very happy with all who have a Chase account and have no issues with the ruling system.
Such a shame the Blue Badge is not accepted.3 -

I'm lucky to be still pretty fit despite the passing of the years, but don't take it for granted. Any one of us can be left with a disability at any time in our lives, so it's in the interest of us all to ensure that there is access for all to all the facilities and services enjoyed by the fully able-bodied. We've come a long way in just the last 40 years or so, but as you point out, there is still a way to go and problems that need a solution.
So perhaps you could find time to write to the Chase CEO, politely pointing out the problem and asking if a solution could be found. Perhaps write to your MP, as suggested above too, and encourage friends in local support groups to do the same. Problems never get resolved unless brought to the attention of those who can provide a solution. Good luck!
