Supermarkets aren't obligated by law, to charge the lowest price for a product. They can even charge different prices in different branches. Just use www.trolley.co.uk and check the best prices there. Set up an email alert for products. Helpfully, they don't send out loads, just one email in a day if the products you have on alert have gone up/down. KIND bars go up and down like yo-yos.

I do but then I vote with my feet and don't buy the item. But then I think everything at Waitrose is overpriced.
Big name brands generally are, because they don't have anywhere near the scale of Tesco et al so they pay significantly more to the suppliers for these items.

I accept this, but at the same time my loyalty to my own pocket comes streets ahead of any social obligation I feel towards John Lewis and Partners.

So much to read, so little time.

I’m surprised to be in a minority in calling out this rip off price Waitrose are charging for plain Hobnobs, think this is mse not the grocers forum.

We don't have a Waitrose anywhere near us now but did a few years in the past and went in a few times.
My impression then - which I know isn't going to be popular on these boards - is that pretty much all of Waitrose (like M & S) is overpriced. Hence we stopped going.
So to be honest I'm more surprised by the fact that they ever sold Hobnobs at a price matching other supermarkets than the fact that they now charge more than them....
I bought some cherries from M & S recently.  They were cheaper than Lidl  :)
