Personally I think hob nobs (and their ilk) are disgusting, and I wouldn't buy or eat them at any price...Rosa_Damascena said:

Waitrose £1.60 although the ticket isn’t even on the shelf now at my local Waitrose.
Sainsbury, Tesco, Iceland, Morrisons, Ocado, Poundland, all £1.19 or within a few pence of it. Even Spar is only £1.29. So why would Waitrose Jack the price 60% in a couple of months. Not one of the previous posters is surprised and most feel it’s OK.
No one thinks it’s a rip off except me. 👍
But I agree with the point, that if you don't like the price then just don't buy the hob nobs (or whatever) or vote with your feet and shop elsewhere.

Big name brands generally are, because they don't have anywhere near the scale of Tesco et al so they pay significantly more to the suppliers for these items.Rosa_Damascena said:I do but then I vote with my feet and don't buy the item. But then I think everything at Waitrose is overpriced.
Waitrose is great for fresh foods, where there are clear differences in quality, sourcing and ethics vs most of their competitors, and for niche/unusual items and small brands that aren't available elsewhere. Some people are happy to pay more for the convenience of buying the big brands along with the rest of their shopping rather than visiting two different shops.0 -
As predicted - priced upwards for the statutory period in order to make them look a decent offer…3 -
I know this may be taking things a bit far but my husband produced some homemade hobnobs with ingredients that were in the house. They were really nice

It's the plain biscuits the OP is concerned with not the chocolate ones (which are on the same, presumably from the manufacturer, offer in many places)cymruchris said:

Fair point - I'm still confident that the price will drop on those too. Offers are always cyclical on the big brands. Retailers follow certain promotion period dates throughout the year - and it's all swings and roundabouts really. You just have to catch what you want when it's on offer at a price that's normal for every other supermarketmjm3346 said:

I love Waitrose.
I hate hobnobs of any description. Including the daft name. You're better off without.
And I recently got some lovely bedding from John Lewis for a very reasonable price in the sale. Just saying. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Hence we stopped going. So to be honest I'm more surprised by the fact that they ever sold Hobnobs at a price matching other supermarkets than the fact that they now charge more than them....2
