Parking stories in the News/media

"Errrrm...no it isn't. That VCS' "lady" knew what she was doing. Does she have no conscience?
How can people think this is a real job?"
They are targeted to achieve so many PCN's per day. The PPC's will tell a different story but on the employer review sites it is obvious that they are targeted to achieve a certain number of PCN's per day. There are no fringe benefits for working for one of these operators.

Excel Parking Services Ltd are given FAR too much space to chat rubbish in the second half of this article about a keying error where the PCN should have been cancelled:

Another keying error case. albeit this one looks like a system failure because the VRM is showing only as the letter 'S':
https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/people/hartlepool-marina-motorist-refuses-to-pay-ps100-parking-penalty-following-registration-row-4048028
NorthWest Parking Management v Emma Winter, who has quite rightly refused to pay, because she paid and displayed for a £2 ticket. She's now getting the usual intimidating trash from DCB Ltd or Legal."Labour parliamentary candidate for Hartlepool Jonathan Brash has urged the company to withdraw the fine saying she clearly paid for a ticket.
Northwest Parking Management said the car park fully passed a British Parking Association (BPA) audit in January and that its tariffs and terms and conditions are clearly displayed.
The company has told the Mail the charge was issued correctly, saying she did not enter her full registration details as clearly stated in the car park and only entered one letter."
Yeah, sure she did...rogue drivers are always doing that, aren't they. NOT.
And what about offering the £20 set by the BPA CoP, given she is disputing it now. No? Oh yes, she only had an arbitrary 28 days to do that according to PPC World's la-la land.
As such, what is the point of DRA stage then, what's the point of DCB Ltd and Legal if people can't raise disputes?

So many scams but I don't think we've seen this one, about one of the infamous 'House of Lords Code of Practice whingers', Euro Car Parks:
https://www.express.co.uk/finance/crusader/1742857/fines-euro-car-parking-funeral-wake-mourners/amp
"Outraged Tony Frewin got in touch with Crusader after he was staggered by the insensitivity of the £80 penalty issued by operator Euro Car Parks on behalf of its client the Colney Fox pub and restaurant near St Albans, Hertfordshire."
NAMED AND SHAMED.
Beware making bookings at that pub.
In a typical PPC act of unchecked auto-PCN greed, Euro Car Parks' reliance on their faceless ANPR system this time saw them reportedly targeting mourners at a wake.Following the church service last month, Tony had attended the cemetery and then driven to the Fox, part of hospitality group Mitchells and Butlers. This was an organised wake - the family had paid the Fox £1,600 for its services - but he was shocked to receive an £80 parking charge weeks later.
Then it emerged more than 10 other mourners, including very close relatives of the deceased, had also been hit and some of the hapless victims had actually PAID the pointless parking firm, for fear of what they thought were 'fines' going up.
“There was no sign I could see warning about the restrictions or needing to get a ticket. Nor is there anything on the Fox’s website,” he pointed out.
Once the paper got involved, the parking charges were (all of a sudden) swiftly cancelled and refunded, no doubt as part of the BPA AOS members' rumoured 'damage limitation' exercise that sees this happen a lot right now, to avoid bad publicity reaching the DLUHC.
They failed to sweep this one under the BPA carpet.
Both the Colney Fox pub and restaurant near St Albans, Hertfordshire and Euro Car Parks are named and shamed.

Thought I'd read a few of the Trustpilot Reviews about the BPA, given that it's in the public domain that their friends at BW Legal are suing Trustpilot:
https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.britishparking.co.uk
Hilarious responses from the BPA. Well worth a laugh over your cornflakes. Not too happy, are they?
"Some of the words you use to describe our members are offensive, factually incorrect and above all not representative of our membership community. Overall your view is narrow, misinformed, and incorrect."
Really?!
The popcorn is already on order in bulk, for the regulars here to read the next chapter in the BW Legal v Trustpilot case when it unfolds.
Whoever said there's no such thing as bad publicity?

What fools the landlords are, it takes years to build a business and they with the help of EURO... are quckly destroying it
EURO seem to be RUNNING OUT OF REAL CAR PARKS and now infest small places
A few months ago, I mentioned that EURO had infested a very small CO-OP with only 6 parking spaces at the front. My very last visit to this branch because of the vermin, I spoke to the manager and asked which fool took on these business destroyers ? It was the area manager.
I popped in the store at the weekend and I said to the same manger, "how is business" ?
BAD HE SAID .... I just reminded him why ...
FOOLS AND THEIR CUSTONERS ARE EASILY PARTED

FOOLS AND THEIR CUSTONERS ARE EASILY PARTEDFrom the article, it appears the pub tried to worm, or just plain lie its way out with the usual drivelWe highlighted Tony’s complaint first to Mitchells and Butlers and while it insisted it had no say in Euro Car Park’s actions, the parking operator then told Tony it had wiped the fine as a “goodwill gesture”The principal is jointly and severally liable for the actions of its agents, goodwill gesture my back side.I drive in that area a few times each year shutting between the Midlands and the South-East (Kent) sometimes stopping in London Colney for a bite to eat , there are a couple of other pubs only a short distance away that are ( or were) PPC free, the Bull and the green dragoon and as a result have had my ( and my passengers) custom - did think about stopping at the Fox, but spotted it was infested by a PPC.The news story re-enforces that decision
From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"7 -

More so Half_way, this is a brilliant thread you started
Government must take notice but the impression is they are scared to do anything. Maybe Rishi could explain this especially as he approved the new code of practice in the first place
Has anyone sent a link to this thread to Rishi ???
