Parking stories in the News/media

Meanwhile, down in Dorset a one off malfunction with an ANPR set up caused motorist to receive a Parking charge notice after visiting a car park twice on one day and recording both visits as one.
Three seem to be a significant amount of of these one off errors, maybe it's about time there was a fightback where every double dip results in a GDPR case against the principal and the PPC in question losing access to the dvla data tap, which seems to keep on flowing no matter what.
Here's the story:

From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"8 -

https://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/people/chesterfield-nurse-fined-almost-ps500-after-using-mcdonalds-drive-through-two-nights-in-a-row-3910386
Rachel Fairchild, 47, a complex care nurse, was shocked when she found out she has been fined over £300 five months after using a drive through at Barlborough McDonald’s two nights in a row.
Rachel who specialises in spine injuries and helps paralysed people, wanted to complain but there were no numbers to contact them and the only phone number on the document was an automatic pay line. She said: “ I got through to a woman from the second company. I asked for a photo proof of my car actually in the car park, not the drive-through, and she said they can’t provide it. She also said it was too far gone and I couldn't contest it and added I would have to wait until I have received another letter from the court to complain. And then I received the third letter, still not from the court but a different company that just had the pay number on it again. I couldn't get in touch with anyone.”
Rachel has now received a final court letter charging her for over £466. She was informed she can contest the decision, but will need to pay over £100 to do so and if she looses the case, she will have to pay the court costs on top of the fine.
He certainly understands "double dip" and I would be interested to here what he says about the fake add-ons and the BPA who openly support it
I would certainly throw some money for crowd funding but of course it cannot be shown on here as MSE don't allow it

No wonder they don't want to show the logs
I don't remember any police force saying their ANPR had an error ?
ANPR should NOT be allowed for the great parking scam

People in Wokingham Borough demand car park charge rises be dropped due to Cost of Living crisis

We remember the propaganda put out by the BPA >>>
https://www.britishparking-media.co.uk/news/proposed-cap-on-pcns-for-parking-on-private-land-a-real-concern-says-bpa
How things have changed. With 1500 complaints to Wokingham Council and the threat of a deserted town centre.
Proving without doubt that putting up Charges will drive people away. The same applies to private car parks
The BPA crystal ball failed again

And an 80 year old guy pays the fee to park twice (to make sure, because he found the app fiddly) but still gets £100 parking charge:

But here's some good news, Smart Parking kicked out of a notorious Kendal pub car park:
https://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/23112932.kendals-duke-cumberland-pub-car-park-controversy/
OMG anyone local should go to this party!"We didn't have the power to do anything but the staff have got a lot of flak and abuse from understandably unhappy customers, and it's damaged our trade quite a lot - people think we're in on it, but we don't get a penny.
"The Duke, like every pub, has had massive rises in bills but we can't pass that onto our customers as people can't afford it.
"On top of that, we're losing customers because they're getting parking tickets, and the pub is fighting for survival.
"So Punch has finally agreed and instructed Smart Parking to switch off the CCTV, which is scheduled for December 1, so the next day we're having a party to celebrate.
"Staff are going to be dressed up as parking tickets, there'll be some parking-related cocktails, we'll have a bonfire and throw in some effigies of cameras, etc, and a free shot for people who bring a parking ticket.
"After that there won't be any formal ticketing - it'll be signed to say parking for customers only. "

Westhill Shopping Centre has issued 349 apology letters after a “technical glitch” wrongly issued £20,000 in tickets.
I don't believe that Highview did not know what was going on.
This proves that Highview are not fit to operate ANPR
Westhill Shopping Centre have done the right thing but at what cost to them and the retailers ?
Positive proof that ANPR should be banned in a private car park
I hope that once this is resolved, Westhill will kick Highview out and understand that any of the parking scammers will lose them business
Once tarnished with a scammer on site, always tarnished2
