Hospital has to cancel a PCN issued to a distressed 80 year old, because GroupNexus wouldn't make a reasonable adjustment for him and cancel the charge:
https://www.bordercountiesadvertizer.co.uk/news/25488293.rsh-scraps-whittington-mans-parking-fine-appeal/
"Initially, Mr Williams was sent a £60 fine by GroupNexus, which manages parking at the hospital, and was told this would be reduced to £30 if it was paid within 14 days.He decided to appeal, but after three failed attempts he was told the fine would increase to £130.
Mr Williams continued: "I've explained the situation, but it's almost like they don't read the letters. I have sent three appeals."
He added: "I think they [the hospital] are being judge, jury, and executioner.
"I'm not sure which car park I should have parked in, but I saved the cost of an ambulance coming out to my wife.
"The hospital is a mess at the moment with all the building work going on there. I feel I have been unfairly targeted."
Hospital helped Group Nexus sweep it under the carpet once the paper got involved.
The BPA must be so proud.
The only thing for GN to be 'proud' of is this clear evidence that £60/£30 is considered sufficient to operate a scheme at a busy hospital.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The BPA's lame response is completely disingenuous and tone deaf, given the fact that PCNs issued per annum are now at NINETEEN MILLION (including windscreen PCNs):
The British Parking Association expressed its support for the government's consultation, adding: "We believe the proposals are pragmatic and we are committed to working constructively with stakeholders to deliver a fair and effective system for all road users."They argued that reducing the level of the parking charge would risk undermining compliance.
"It would effectively reward those who break the rules at the expense of the vast majority of motorists who play fair and are frustrated by drivers misusing parent-and-child bays, blue badge bays, and other restricted spaces.
"An effective deterrent is essential to protect responsible motorists and ensure parking spaces are used as intended. That is why we believe retaining the £100 cap on Parking Charges, together with the £70 debt resolution fee, remains the right and proportionate approach."

Interesting article from Ireland:

PCN issued by Garda 80 euros = £70.
Struck out by the Judge (unsure what basis, proportionality perhaps, as he heard employees were all being targeted and PCNs were being dished out like confetti) who ordered the hospital employee to pay half that amount - 40 euros = £35 - but to charity!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Bet the DVLA love the proceeds - how many £millions do they receive doling out motorists data willy-nilly (my ancient abacus does not have enough "noughts")4 -

The 25/26 projected 17.2m DVLA accesses would raise £43,000,000 @ the standard £2.50 a pop. It's scandalous that a £43 million turnover cannot generate a penny profit (surplus). Surely a sign of utterly incompetent management, or a total fabrication of the truth.MPs should investigate. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Lapstone pub U-turns on £100 fines — introduces £20 parking pass instead
Having finally kicked out CEL for nearly ruining this pub they are running a voucher scheme to turn casual car park local users into customers.
Good idea!"The move comes after widespread backlash to the ANPR system, which was operated by Liverpool-based Civil Enforcement Ltd, the same firm behind a controversial parking setup at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club.
Previously, those who failed to register their vehicle within a 15-minute grace period were hit with fines of up to £100, prompting anger from school-run parents and pubgoers alike.
But the scheme drew over 100 angry comments on Facebook and widespread criticism.
With the ANPR cameras now removed, the new Lapstone Pass will allow continued access for regular users, including during school drop-off and pick-up times, while also supporting the pub."
@Kaizen2024 the previous setup obviously didn't work for them but there is nothing to stop the landowner from making their own DVLA requests if they have any issues.Always remember to abide by Space Corps Directive 39436175880932/B:
'All nations attending the conference are only allocated one parking space.'

But lets be honest, government think the BPA is a real ATA BUT ..... it's the parking companies thar run the BPA plus the idiotic debt collectors and the dodgy legals
THE BPA are not fit for purpose and must be replaced1
