Allowing private companies to 'fine' individuals was never going to end well.
I knew this over ten years ago, MPs are thick as mince for allowing it.5 -

I saw this today. Not strictly carpark related, but still relevant as Its to do with AIRPORT DROP OFF FEES PRICE HIKES - so basically APCOA and VCS etc taking the p*ss even more so with their unofficial land taxes!

It's not just airports and drop off areas where charges are being hiked.
Train stations hike parking prices at rates even faster than rail fares (msn.com)

I am in that bracket but, having been around technology and computing since it took off (in my industry anyway) in the late '70's, I consider myself to be very techno-able. It is not always down to the ability of the person but sometimes (well alright, always) due to lack of signal (especially in coastal areas) or other obstacles placed in one's way by the parking app. Knowing I would be visiting some coastal areas in rural Lincolnshire recently I downloaded all the parking apps I might need before I left home. Even then, one of them (APCOA connect) decided it didn't like my e-mail as a log in and I wasted time (in the car park) having to set up the account again using the mobile number - deliberate or what? Fortunately, I had set up a timer on the mobile and was well within the ten minutes arbitrary limit. I could see several people clustered round the car park sign working out how to pay without a mobile or how to do it with a mobile as cash and/or contactless were not available. The option to park on roads was not available due to either the narrowness of the roads and/or the local councils, who must have had spare yellow paint available, had all roads covered in lines and blips! One could be forgiven for thinking they didn't want visitors to boost their local trade - even the toilets cost 40 pence to "spend a penny".Coupon-mad said:Slightly different focus but very true about middle aged and older people feeling unwelcome in car parks that only offer parking by app:5 -

More importantly, they didn't obtain advertising consent for the signs, which is a criminal offence, and cannot (should not) be applied retrospectively.alanjuk said:https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/parkingeye-slammed-over-pub-car-7468265

Pubs nowadays, with many more about to go bust becuse of the energy crisis etc, they are mad to brng in parking companies
And PE, WHAT CAN WE SAY ? Part of the BPA rabble4 -
That will cause a lot of confusion because there does not appear to be any demarcation between the pub car park and the spaces for the shops. Pub has car parking at the front and the back and I think that the ANPR might pick up drivers parking in the shop spaces.alanjuk said:https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/parkingeye-slammed-over-pub-car-7468265

There is also car parking at the front of the pub approached from another road.

Should we be in the slightest bit surprised? This has been PE's standard MO since the introduction of ANPR into the private parking arena.alanjuk said:https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/parkingeye-slammed-over-pub-car-7468265

Maybe these Gemini PCNs are arising as a result of 'Capture Delay' which IMHO should be banned in cases of immediate transaction reliability, such as a car parking fee:

Seems possible this could be set to happen with ticketed or ticketless systems.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
