Well here's a deceptive practice example:

Bristol Airport three-point turn puts holidaymakers in a spin over £100 parking fine

'At our age, we don’t need the hassle. I won’t be going there again'

    https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/regional-news/bristol-airport-three-point-turn-9137338.amp

They don't seem to realise that the 'kind security guard helped them find the right place and they caught their flight on time' (i.e. the nice man in the supposed 'security patrol vehicle' misleadingly marked 'ROAD SAFETY UNIT') was the same person who filmed and issued the PCN for VCS.

The images are clearly from a CCTV van:

The IPC must be so proud....

I don't know how PPC staff sleep at night. £100 ripped off from pensioners for doing a 3 point turn when they missed a turn in the dark & rain at an Airport.  Which the CCTV van driver knew.

VCS: hang your heads in shame. No wonder your staff are leaving in numbers (info that is in the public domain).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Another This is Money article:

Drivers at increased risk of parking charges as car park firms ramp up activity

    https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-13131097/amp/Drivers-increased-risk-parking-charges-car-park-firms-ramp-activity.html

    • Private car park operators are snooping on motorists more than ever before
    • Government rules to curb fines and bad behaviour are still nowhere in sight

"Motorists are more and more likely to get parking charges through the post, as car park operators access drivers' records more:

    9.5million in 2021/22

    12million in 2022/23 - around 33,000 a day."

Meanwhile, the DVLA just carries on enabling it all, and their staff are trained to fob off any noise with their 'Business as Usual' tone-deaf template responses to pretty much all complaints.

    As the article said ...
Government rules to curb fines and bad behaviour are still nowhere in sight

So, what is the Dept of Levelling doing every day ???  maybe watching catchup on Mr Bates which is another scandal government fails in

The graph above just shows the scandal of the parking scam

My major concern is that the new code will still not be in action by the time this current lot of "Government" get kicked out, and the next lot might be simply not bothered.

My thoughts as well.   This parking charade has been going on for over 2 years and any government with brains would have sorted this by now
What with the blood scandal, the post office scandal and many other failures by government, Sunak is about to lose his job along with many MP's  along with Gove who seems to be treating the Dept of Levelling Up as a joke

And Sunak saying he is on the side of motorists is just another cloud dreaming promise from a man the public never voted for in the first place

Angela Raynor will take over from Gove but with her tax problems, not sure she can be trusted

MPs continue to table questions to DLUHC about CoP. 17 since the Call for evidence consultation closed 5 mths ago.

    https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions?SearchTerm=Parking+code+of+practice+&DateFrom=07/10/2023&DateTo=07/10/2024&AnsweredFrom=&AnsweredTo=&House=Bicameral&Answered=Any&Expanded=True

Jacob Young under Secretary of State replies offer no new info...he's just replaced the "in due course" line with "in the near future"

5mths is sufficient time for the dept to review the consultation responses. Jacob Young needs to now be setting a timeframe outlining the next steps. Failing to do so gives the impression the gov is not as committed as they say they are.

Meanwhile 85yr old Stanley Luckhurst's petition demanding the gov re-launch the Code by 30th April 2024 continues to gather signings (812)

Young Jacob seems so full of mealy-mouthed non answers to make one suspicious that they are hoping to hand this hot potato over to Labour. Nice little departure time bomb!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Thanks for that Nellymoser

manjana ... spanish for "tomorrow", or sometimes "later". the sentiment being "amigo manjana! slow down, take it easy. what's your hurry?!? wait 'til tomorrow!".

Tony Blair said "things will get better" and this current government says MANYANA

If business was run the way Jacob and the Dept of Levelling Up do, the country would go bust. A very sad scenario for Sunak

The Dept of Levelling Up must be afraid of something ??
  • Thanks for the info @Nellymoser

Perhaps we should all contact our MPs and ask them to question the DLUHC about the latest delay?
