I would highly recommend getting household insurance sorted asap Keedie, certainly well ahead of a freezer warranty.
These monthly £250 payments really are taking chunks out of your total debt now. The new fridge will be a real asset with helping with your food planning.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 52 -
Yes I'm looking forward to the fridge coming @AntoMac, and being able to go back to having a plan for food etc. I really hope the delivery guys bring it up to my flat. I spoke to Currys this morning as my neighbour reminded me that I needed to tell them about the no lift issue, as she had problems with her fridge being delivered as one man turned up and it needed two people. The guy on the phone said that if the delivery guys deem it to be unsafe, then they would deliver it to the ground floor only. I asked how that was meant to work, when I'm paying £40 for delivery and I can barely carry my shopping up the stairs let alone a fridge. The guy made notes on the system but was getting annoyed with the fact that I was not going to blindly accept that as a possible delivery option. I'll still defrost the fridge today for the collection tomorrow and see what happens in the morning.
Definitely getting home insurance within the week, as I just keep forgetting and it's really playing with fire... 😬.Debt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle

Yes, definitely get home insurance sorted. Its so important.
How do they expect people in upstairs flats to cope with a broken lift? You really could do with being in a ground floor place couldn't you? Fingers crossed for delivery. XMaking the debt go down and savings go up

Yeah, a ground floor flat in the right part of the borough, would be life changing @Makingabobor2. I'd even be able to store my rollator in my hallway instead of having to hoist it and out of the car boot.
There's some parts of my area in London that I'd never feel safe or comfortable living there with my son, as there's too much threats for a young black man. And so I'd rather drag myself up the stairs and cry under the covers when I'm in excruciating agony and overwhelmed, than move into an area where I'm worried for our safety. Or simply just stay home and not bother with the stairs at all until I'm feeling better.
I've accepted that we're moving though. And I'll start to save for it, as moving is very expensive. And stressful. But I'm going to make the most of where we are for however long we're here and declutter and redecorate the flat. As I might also be able to home swap as an option too. It will take a while to move, so I'm not in a rush, as I don't want to keep moving, so I need to find something or be offered something that I can manage long term. In the interim, we'll just keep pushing through.
I'm trying to get into a better mindset for June spending wise, as May has been an epic fail... 😬.Debt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle

It's here...!!!
The delivery drivers had no clue that there was no lift and I was on third floor as apparently there was no notes on my order 😬😬😬. One of them was a bit put off but very kind about it and the other was just downright hostile about it and I could hear him swearing and cussing all the way up the stairwell. Which means that if my neighbours would have heard him too 🤦🏾♀️. When I told them thank you very much and apologised for the stairs, Mr Hostile flat out ignored me and Mr Peacemaker was extra nice to compensate.
My son is very happy as his vision for the kitchen is coming together. He also had a mini vain moment when he realised that he can see his reflection in the fridge door 😂.
The fridge had to settle longer than the usual 2 hours the nice delivery guy said, as they had to hold it an angle/more or less sideways, to get it up the stairs. So I left it for 5 hours, and switched it on and it has to have no food in it for 6 hours. So I'll buy milk, eggs etc tonight and my son said he'll do his own food shopping to cover him for the weekend. But as he's got an exam on Monday, I don't want to bother him to have too much to do, so I might just get most of it tonight and he can carry it up the stairs. It'll work out cheaper that way as well, as he tends to buy more snacks than food when he goes food shopping 🥴.Debt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle

Looks great! Sorry about the stairs hassle, they must realise people have stairs and while it's extra work, that's in the nature of things. I love that your son can see his reflectionI think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hurrah! What's on the batch cooking and freezing list that you're excited about? I'm vicariously excited about your son's mac cheese 😂1

That is one proper sexy bit of kit @Keedie
You must be delighted with it.
We got a much needed new fridge freezer just after lockdown and it makes such a difference having one that works and isn’t jammed up with a load of ice doesn’t it!?27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 51
