It's like the complaints about the covid vaccine being a way of tracking the population.
What a daft idea, much better to use a mobile phone and get the swarm to pay for the privilege.
I have a tin foil suit.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

Cash isn't going away, not in our lifetime anyway
My husband got his car washed today, one of those posh hand wash places.  They made a good job of it but when he gave them his bank card to pay they laughed and said they only took cash  :D. Fortunately he had some.

We have a lovely market in our market town, most of the stalls only take cash.

I agree, cash isn’t suddenly going to disappear.

Our local Chinese that has never taken card before finally does - the end is nigh! :D
I can’t believe some places still don’t take card payments in 2022 - the fees are tiny, the only realistic reason is that some of the cash isn’t going through the books.

A local baker's shop  do not take cards for under £5.

According to the tin foil hat brigade the government want people to use card. They can then control your money. What you buy, where you can shop and how much you can spend.

Our window cleaner now allows us to pay using cash or PayPal - which is great, as the only time I use cash is in our local Chinese takeaway when their card machine isn't working (which seems to be a regular issue).

Our window cleaner also would rather money is paid into his account rather than cash. However, my barbers have recently changed to cash only when has always been either/or for as long as I can remember.

And yet, those of you who are concerned about how the Government might track you are completely indifferent about handing over hugh quantities of personal data, through apps on your phones, to US-based private corporations who happily sell it on to data brokers to use for whatever they want.
And if there's no data controller in the UK, there's absolutely nothing whatsoever you can do about it, your Data Protection rights are not enforceable in any way.
See the thread in this forum about the "Noom" dieting app for more details.

How can I Walk into supermarkets and buy shopping anonymously when cash becomes extinct?

I don't want to use my bank card and be tracked and traced.

What is wrong with these silly daft sheep humans? , they all love being tracked and traced by using their card.

Yes ! I know we can't beat the big brother surveillance, but why make it easy!

And before anyone says that I'm give out my location on here, I use VPN and a pay as you go phone

This is MSE. Paying by cash is more expensive. I want the cheapest possible, so I don't mind who knows that I'm buying some milk in Sainsbury’s if I get it a few pence cheaper
MSE is moneysaving - it is not about buying the cheapest.
Moneysaving means not wasting it - wasting money is, very, often buying the cheapest.

However there is no financial cost to Sainsbury's or Amex knowing you are buying milk, indeed by not using Nectar and Amex there would be an actual cost due to loss of points and cashback.
