I think that the OP has a child/person with Special needs & these types of devices are designed to stimulate them.

A quick google shows they are not cheap.

Perhaps the Op could say where they got theirs from.

They also refer to a "client" though which suggests not.
  • The item is from an Online sensory specialist who supplies to commercial and individuals.

I run a private studio and we have a sensory room, hence the sensory purchase. It was actually purchased on my personal credit card.
The item came wrapped in a plastic bag with no instructions or labels.

The lead is an amp lead (amp not provided) then the amp plugs into a sound system. The beanbag has a vibrating plate at the bottom, underneath the filling. The bag, lining or filling does not contain any labels.

My assumption was that by purchasing from a supplier who provides specialist kit to furnish sensory rooms, both commercial and individual, was that it would abide by the UK standards?

On a separate note, the bag of sensory toys we also purchased were all substandard and broke after being played with by one child - maybe things arent meant to be used, just looked at?

I also am wearing bespoke M&S pants - I feel posh!

Choosing from a list of options prepared by a seller does not make goods personalised or bespoke. But as this was a commercial not consumer transaction - you might have used a personal card but it was for your business - then normal consumer rights legislation doesn't directly apply.

However the Sale of Goods Act 1979 still applies to business transactions, as do parts of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. I would argue that the goods have not been of satisfactory quality or sufficiently durable; whether their restocking charge (25%) in respect of non-conforming goods has "wings" I don't know, but it's certainly an angle I'd pursue.

So are you running a business?  Do you charge people a fee to use facilities like your sensory room?

Was there any instructions with the sound system?
The vibrating plate probably doesn't need any, plug it into the amp, thats it.

No - I have 2 young adults who need to come with me to work at times and they needed somewhere quiet to sit whilst I work! The bags were supposed to be relaxing for them - they've turned out to be anything but relaxing haha
