Morning all. The birds are really noisy this morning - I was woken at 5.30 by the jackdaws practising their tap dancing on the dormer roof
Sorry to hear you're going through the mill again, Natty. Hope your knuckle heals quickly (not that you'd want to deprive Dave of the pleasure of hoovering!!!) and that your eyesight stabilises soon xx
How are you feeling now, Fayolle? Don't try to do too much too soon - you need to rest, and books sound like ideal companions xx
(((Hugs))) to YL xx and to pigpen (it's good to know that your nose is normal, even if other parts of you aren't!) xx
Yesterday, apart from the usual S&S-ing and tidying round, I managed to hack back the Mexican orange (choisya) next to our front door. Over the past nine years this has grown from a 6-inch cutting to a huge shrub, taller than me, with bright evergreen foliage and masses of beautifully scented white flowers each spring - but it was almost completely obscuring the dining room window! Having finished flowering for this year, it is now about half the size it was the day before yesterday, and I was even able to squeeze all the cuttings into the green bin (it was already more than three-quarters full) before the bin lorry got here.
I then left DH and Rosie to their own devices and went out to meet an old (pre-millennium ) teaching colleague at the NT property where I used to volunteer until my college course took over my life. We walked round the beautiful garden and the house, and both enjoyed seeing the collection of modern and botanical art again, before eating lunch in the orchard. We even managed to time our tour perfectly so that the downpour happened while we were indoors and the sun shone for the outdoor bits
Today I must - talk to a GP - finish WMx4 and hang out - write some letters and emails - file paperwork - plant out geraniums and sunflowers - do a small food shop - take Rosie for her walk - watch WDYTYA I might just manage all of that, if DH doesn't have other ideas...
fingers crossed for you Natty and hugs to everyone esp Fayolle whose hubby is so very ill and much sicker than her. Cue eye rolls.
Looks like a gorgeous day here. Meeting at work this morning then I’m done for the week. Despite this job *technically* having the same hours, near enough as my last job I seem to have so much more free time. Which is EXACTLY what I wanted.
DW x1, WM x 1. Did some ironing yesterday. Tea was easy as I had a cottage pie in the freezer.

Yesterday afternoon we did some sorting in the games cupboard and a few random drawers so OH has a car full of stuff to go to recycling/CS. Bins go out tonight and both recycling and normal are full to overflowing. I'm torn between huge satisfaction that so much stuff is leaving the house and feeling that it's so much waste. But over the last couple of years we have really learnt to look at what we bring in to the house so hopefully less waste being generated.
Bed made, clothes picked up, all the windows open as it's lovely here WM on Banking and spending checked
Breakfast next then need to send a couple of messages and look at planning our trip to UK . I've just discovered it's going to clash with the rail strike so that will mean even more people on the roads, I already find UK so so busy compared to here - we live in a village near a small town so biggest hazard is tractors. Dreading it, it takes so long to get anywhere and is so unpredictable, let alone being on the other side of the road.
Better go as my cat is eyeing up a baby wagtail which is looking lost on the lawn
I have washing to bring in and more to hang out and IH can bring the dirty stuff from our room and squeak can bring theirs.
Hazel deposits cleaned up.
OH on tray duty today DW x2 probably.
I need to take Dots glasses to opticians to be fixed again.. they lost a screw this time.
First though.. nail to fix and cuppa to slurp.
Evil and sunshiny out there.. great for the washing not so much for the eyeballs.. factor 800 liberally slapped about.
Hayfever drugged and I am still unable to stop sneeing and my leg is super itchy from one of my super bites!
I hope sickies are feeling better, black dogs have been pts and nnaughty mogs de-ticked and groomed and flea'd and not hiding to make us worry! Mine scream at Squeak in a morning for their breakfast.
I am in agony, I feel like someone has tried to rip my arm out of its socket. This happened after going for a run this morning, how did I injure my shoulder running, for goodness sake.
A better day at the paid stuff, thanks Kaz. Had a nice day working from home. Made hotpot for DH and veggie shepherds pie for me. I am so fed up of eating the same meals all the time, we have really got into a rut with food and need to make more of an effort.
Well, I didn't get even half my list done! The day started badly because DH didn't emerge from his cocoon until 9.45, and then heavy showers meant I had to do the hokey cokey with the washing. But I did manage to cross various other bits and pieces off my to-do list - my main achievement being to get the cost of our annual copyright licences for church reduced from approx £450 to £250 (the average attendance figure on which the original invoice had been based was way too high, so we've now been moved into a lower band).
Tomorrow is another day, and I aspire to do some hoovering as well as finish the week's laundry.
Sorry to hear you've hurt your shoulder, YL. Hope it gets better soon xx
Hope your shoulder is less painful this morning YL xx
(((Hugs))) to Natty, Valli, piggers, Fayolle and anyone else battling health problems xx
Taken a few steps backwards on the flylady road this week. I noticed this morning that horizontal surfaces have accumulated 'stuff' while I've concentrated on keeping my head together enough to keep turning up at the paid stuff. Priorities and all that jazz. Anyhoo noticing is the first step towards dealing with so I must be facing forwards and the right way up again. 🙃
DS and GF move house tomorrow. Hope it's a fine day.
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, had breakfast and a brew, and made a sandwich for my lunch....had to search for clean underwear, and nothing else in the cupboard ie crisps, wafers to put in pack up bag. Need to bail out the boat this weekend and set sail for due North again. Might rehome a few spiders while I'm at it. In a nice cosy hoover 🙂.
no paid stuff today, I have stayed and done full days this week so I’ve done my hours.
off out for lunch with my friends, out into the National Park.
Went to town yesterday and bought new cutters so the fuchsia which is making its way into my garden has been clipped. Need to pick up clippings as they are all over the road. Treated DD to some makeup in Boots and a bag of Percy pigs.

Blood test done Town errands run Cat food collected Essential shopping done including 2 pain aux raisins to have with coffee, it was a fasting blood test!)
It's Friday already, where has the week gone!
Must sit down with OH and try and plan a few upcoming events.
Beach walk done, 100's of school kids down there on an end of term type day trip.
OH is going motorbike and camping this weekend, so my horizontal surface as also cover in 'stuff' I am assured it will all be gone when he sets off. I have been given the job of photographing him setting off fully loads, with tent, mat, fold up chair and other stuff.
Basic dailies only done.
