    The Samsung Galaxy A8 has a 10.4" screen, runs Android 11 (and will be updated to 12 in the near future) and ias it's Androind it isn't tied into Amazon like the Fire is - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy-Screen-Android-Version/dp/B09LYYQ7JV

    I would also look at a refurbed iPad which is a few generations old. Got one for my mum so that she can do video calling with the grandkids. 

    If you want new, then the Amazon Fire HD10 but I find it sluggish to use.
