I'm with EDF, not by choice, but moved after Uility Point went bust.

Currently on the default capped rate, but I monior their fixed rate offers to see if it might be worth swapping.

Their 2 year fixed was £197 for me, and last week it fell to £190.

Yesterday, it fell to £184. But when I plugged their rates into my spreadsheet, which I always do rather than take their word for any deal, they were identical to the rates the week before when they quoted £190.

So I assume they have reduced my estimated usage and based a lower fix on that.  Not sure how they've done that when they have not had a reading from me since asking for one at the end of March, but still...

Just something to be aware of if a deal looks better than it did.

Get into the habit of sending them a reading each month.

That way you only get billed for what you have used & not what they think you might have. 👍
EDF, in their wisdom, only bill every 6 months. They ask for a reading beforehand, so I only pay for what I use (not exactly; I pay fixed DD so its swings and roundabouts).

I moniter my energy use and cost monthly, so know how I'm faring at any time.

I'm loath to send them a reading before they ask as they may want to raise my monthly payment. I'm currently (as of the end of May) just over £176 in arrears, which will turn into about a £45 credit at the end of September. I'm happy enough with that, but will keep my eye on any new fixed deals.

EDF offer Variable DD/Exact monthly payments, give a monthly meter reading, get monthly bill, pay for what has been used every month.

Thank you.  Once I "catch up", I may well switch to that, assuming I've not found a fixed deal I'm happy with before then.

I used my £150 to get myself to get myself into credit and switched to the Variable DD
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I'm in the fortunate position of being able to clear the debit should I wish to, but whilst EDF are happy to advance me an interest free loan, I consider it rude not to accept it :)

See what it says here is this accurate as well
Looking at my annual usage on this site, it is way out.

It states my electric is 4438kwh, I have never used over 1600 and my usage for the past 5yrs has been 1200 -1220

Gas states 6902kwh, my usage is over 8000 per yr.

If you have a smart meter then they are probably getting readings and being a low energy use time of year that may account for the recalculation.

I presume the fix plan name.has.stayed the same and more importantly the kWh price which is really all that matters.

The one on offer to me is simply called Fix Total Service Long-Term and as far as I recall the previous one was the same, no version number etc. Just the end date in the description to indicate it might be different.
Others have posted on here about June 2024 with £200 dual fuel exit fee being more expensive than May 2024 fixed rate with £300 dual fuel exit fee which was highlighted in most recent MSE newsletter as being cheapest fixed rate available to existing customers.
Interesting. The June one is marginally better for me. Maybe it depends on the ratio of gas to el3ctricity consumed, and possibly there are area differences?
What unit kWh and SC rates have you been offered?
    Une fix is:
Elec 48.13p SC 40.86p per kWh
Gas 27.22p SC 11.111p per kWh

I don't recall the May figures as I overwrite old ones when updating my spreadsheet.
Hopefully comparison of rates in this post nails what I said - June 24 fixed with £200 exit fee dual fuel more expensive than May 24 fixed rate with £300 exit fee dual fuel.

Differential in rates would be similar for your region.

I've managed to restore last month's spreadsheet from Dropbox, and strangely, for me living in the West Midlands, the June unit cost for gas is lower than the figure I was offered in May, unless I somehow mistranscribed the May gas figure. Figures shown below are those I recorded on the two spreadsheets:

Standing charges are unchanged, but unit costs are:

    Elec May 40.74 June 40.86
    Gas May 11.985 June 11.111

Not sure how many dual fuel examples you would like to see showing June fix more expensive than May fix, link below shows 2 examples within post and quoted post reply

Then, as I suggested, I must have transcribed the May gas figure wrongly, though in the example you illustrate, I don't see any unit rates, and in the thread, I don't see any EDF rates quoted for the West Midlands. Not sure how much if any they vary by area. Does the unit cost vary, or is it just the standing charge?

Unit rates may well vary region to region, differential between May and June version is likely to be similar particularly as exit fee £100 dual fuel lower for June version
