Sneaky move by EDF.

I'm with EDF, not by choice, but moved after Uility Point went bust.
Currently on the default capped rate, but I monior their fixed rate offers to see if it might be worth swapping.
Their 2 year fixed was £197 for me, and last week it fell to £190.
Yesterday, it fell to £184. But when I plugged their rates into my spreadsheet, which I always do rather than take their word for any deal, they were identical to the rates the week before when they quoted £190.
So I assume they have reduced my estimated usage and based a lower fix on that. Not sure how they've done that when they have not had a reading from me since asking for one at the end of March, but still...
Just something to be aware of if a deal looks better than it did.

If you have a smart meter then they are probably getting readings and being a low energy use time of year that may account for the recalculation.
I presume the fix plan name.has.stayed the same and more importantly the kWh price which is really all that matters.0 -

No, just dumb meters, and agreed, all that matters is the rates. The one on offer to me is simply called Fix Total Service Long-Term and as far as I recall the previous one was the same, no version number etc. Just the end date in the description to indicate it might be different.0 -

My last 12 month usage is electricity 2071kWh, gas 10345kWh
EDF estimate my electicity as 1874kWh, gas as 10364kWh
I think they have revised their estimate for my electricity down from the figure they used to use, but I'm not certain.
Edited to add: I dont know how they have arrived at their pretty good estimates, as they have had very few readings from me. Possibly Utility Point gave them reading data?0 -

It appears they have insights into industrial readings, it has been discussed on another thread where some think it's a bit dodgy on GDPR as you can also check your neighbours out as well. Which is funStaffordian11 said:
