Victim of fraud and HSBC

Options
I was a victim of fraud where someone posed as HSBC fraud team and they also spoke to HSBC impersonating me to get them to release payments. I had a total of £9k taken which completely wiped my accounts (even overdraft) etc. HSBC have given me half of the money back when they realised that the person who called wasn't me but we are now on day 35 and they haven't given me any further update. All I am getting is 'it is with the FIN team' but they don't know what the FIN team is! I have made a formal complaint with them but got told not to worry etc. I don't want to have to wait months before going to the ombudsman so what else can I do here? I feel my complaints are falling on deaf ears.

How did the fraudster have access to all your personal security details , have HSBC confirmed whether their procedure was followed for ID as usually they are very strict. My OH even struggled to speak to them last year as he had forgotten his telephone security password and they made him go through everything , basically up to and including his inside leg measurement before they would even talk to him! Have you taken steps to find out how you were compromised?

Do you mean someone phoned you pretending to be from the HSBC fraud team and you provided them with all your security information? Someone can't just phoned HSBC and get money moved without knowing any information.
I'm guessing there is a lot more to the story.

Would be better in banking section, as really has nothing to do with consumer rights.

These things take as long as they take. Complaint will make no difference as Financial investigation team will take as long as it takes. Nothing will make them go any faster.

What information did you provide to the fraudster when they called you?
