Despite all claims in the media , the average payout is £2000 less commission.
As Mercedes and the others were not in the news, does it apply to them?
Thanks so much. There were over 90,000 VW owners claiming, and £193 million "drop the case & go away" money is to be paid out, so that works out at a maximum of £2144 each, less the upto 50% fees by the time they add on "expenses" & VAT, call it £1000 cash.Would help pay the gas bill this Winter I suppose

@facade
Thank you, dad clearly meets the criteria on all three points.
NB: Payment is over 2k per claim and the lawyers are to be paid separately and that is stated in the link
Clearly, the other two posters got it completely wrong.
Thank you again.0 -

Btw, I was not aware of this "knowledge" and nor was dad as he was assured the car was a emissions friendly car.

1) He didn't have a VW and (2) he wasn't part of the claim.
He's really starting afresh with a claim against MB. The VW settlement doesn't set a precedent.0 -

The original deal was for a fee for the legal firm to be deducted as a % of any "winnings", it could be upto 50% by the time "expenses" are added. I've no idea if the VW contribution will reduce it or if it is a fixed commission. The big winners as always are the legal firms. However, it is still "free money", if you only get 50p you are winning.

MSE seem to be suggesting that people think about joining a group action to make a claim. I checked my car and it does seem to be included (a 2013 Mercedes A Class). I bought the car from a Mercedes dealership.
Unfortunately, I sold the car in 2019 and got rid of the paperwork sometime after. Like many (probably), as I have no paperwork, I'm wondering whether its even worth making the claim??0 -

He's really starting afresh with a claim against MB. The VW settlement doesn't set a precedent.Unfortunate that the manufacturers didn't club together and donate to VW legal fees, if VW could have got it laughed out of court it would have done them all a favour, and saved them all money, as it looks like there will be a succession of bandwagon jumpers hoping for another out of court settlement.Maybe the fact that everyone except VW seems to be claiming full relevant emission standards compliance without the use of "cheat software" is why they wouldn't chip in- they hope they will get it thrown out easily.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Claimants who had been gIven details reported on the VW diiesel Emissions facebook page but these posts have been deleted in case they were accused of breaking a confidentially condition.
One reported £1700. Another said 'a small payout'. and another said £175.£193m by 90,000 is just over £2100 each but it does not appear to be an equal payout to all.1 -

Thank you all.
I looked at the firms offering to follow up the emissions thing and MSE has details re what some may charge. I'll put it to dad. He is giving the money to a charity, ie plant trees.
Good luck to all those that claim and hopefully Mercedes drivers get a lot more than that. He bought the car new for just under 40 k so 15% of that is 6k.0
