I had to google edible 'liquid smoke', never heard or seen it before, but I love the sound if it.
But....could it be subbed for smoked paprika??? I have a large stash of this stuff, love it.
Welcome @sprozza.

Morning June GC'rs!
Happy Platinum Jubilee Day!
We nipped to MrL today - there was an offer on wine (different budget) that we quite like, so we bought some, and I got a few extra bits that were on my list. I got charged full price for a YS'd item and got a refund. I would have been annoyed (at myself) had I not spotted it, as I only got it because it was on final reduction, and I could use it - but it was already 1 day 'out of date'. I wouldn't pay full price for it normally, and sure as heck not when out of date. I also got lucky with a reduced to 70p pasta bake - can't freeze it, but will use it up for a main meal either today or tomorrow. I think we will probably revert back to not eating fish (we don't eat that much anyway), as the cod portions that I buy have gone up 50p and are now £2.99 for 4. OK, cheaper than a takeaway, but outwith our budget, increasingly. I think I will apply that to most of the faux meat products too. We don't have them regularly, but purchasing will definitely be limited to 'treat' territory - perhaps when on special offer. At this present moment in time, LG seems to have fish (fingers or cakes), most weeks at school for lunch, and they eat it, so there is no real need to support 'getting used to certain foodstuffs' at home anymore.
Anyway, £8.46 to add to my total.

Only June 2nd and we're already 8 pages in to the thread. Wow! Welcome back to the regulars, anyone returning and to the new folks.
Just dropping in to post my budget for June and I'll catch up on both threads later today. Please @elsiepac put me down for:
£260 for June 1 – 30
We came in £10 under for May and I'm so proud! That's the first time we've ever come under and it's such a low amount. Last year around this time we were spending more like £400 – £600 per month. We've trimmed our convenience food tremendously and have been cooking more ourselves. There have definitely been some food deliveries/takeaways but much less this month. Anyway, I decided to roll the £10 over into June for now.
We had a £63.17 Tesco delivery this morning which covered a lot of basics like milk, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, etc but had restocks like olive oil, Dettol laundry cleaner, distilled vinegar, hand wash and more. I was also able to get a few new items or treats for us to keep it interesting. Some low sugar caramel chocolate ice cream, fish sticks, Pret frozen croissants, a Spanish tortilla and a couple other items. I'll be going away on Sunday for a week so this shop should be enough to keep Mr. Jings going and out of the grocery stores while I'm gone.
£63.17 / £260.00 spent so far. £196.83 / £260.00 remaining

Just added £36.80 from a supermarket spend on the week's yogurt, cream & cheese (butter's already done at L!dls) & salady things; plus, never mind Her Majesty, it's our wedding anniversary so a posh pudding is in order too! There will be a takeaway tonight but that comes from the Entertainments pot.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

Been a lazy day so far but in the positive side spent £4.58 in Lidl and first round up of week of £0.42.
Going to be a freezer dinner tonight so thinking fish fingers and home made chips and best of all doesn't cost a penny as already have them. So many things to do and sitting watching watching TV telling myself " will do it tomorrow "

Good evening June GC'rs!
Happy Wedding Anniversary to Mr & Mrs thriftwizard. May you enjoy many more carefree years together! Me & DH got married around your approximate neck of the woods (I think), so that area holds a very special place in our heart ❤️
I made up a mix this afternoon that included red onion, celery, garlic, red pepper and mushrooms - most of which was in a MrL box, or was YS'd at some point. Once made, I divided it between a (crustless quiche) and a Red pepper and lentil bake mix and put both in the oven. For tea, we had a portion of crustless quiche (even LG - although they weren't enthusiastic.....), some 'rocket - MrL on offer', tomato salad - using cherry tomatoes out of a MrL box and potato salad that used tinned potatoes from MrT.
The lentil bake will go in the freezer when cooled and provide a tea for another day.

Good evening challengers,
First shop of the month today at Aldeee, came to £55.82/£210.
That did include 24 free range eggs as I plan on baking 2 lemon drizzle cakes at the weekend, and possibly a Victoria sponge, depending how energetic/enthusiastic I feel.
Also bought 2 packs of my spreadable butter but only after closely examining the cheaper spreads, to use in my baking, but decided against as they all contain palm oil, something I'm not convinced is 'green'.
Also, 6 bars of their cheapest chocolate (30p a bar), great for baking....and maybe a nibble later on (palm oil free....whoop whoop!).
But...horror!!...no cheap tins of tomatoes on the shelves at all! I still have about 6 tins in the cupboard, so will hold fire with the 40p tins till next week.
Lots of empty spaces on the shelves, after 2 years I feel this is now becoming the norm 😕.
Had a glorious lentil, spinach and carrot curry out of the freezer, with brown rice for supper.
Tomorrow..salmon out of the freezer, with cajun spices and salad (rocket reduced by 30% today👍).
My freezer home made ready meal stocks have almost been used up, so will need to have a good cook-off to replenish.
