Well some spends have been had, both last week by home delivery and this week as a few top up items that I was too sleep deprived to remember about before the deliveries last week.A big shop in sainsburys for some organic veg, store cupboard restock (talking 24 tins of tomatoes, 6 cartons passata, 2 jars of pnbutter etc) and washing powder, stain remover, dairy free milks and yogurt etc and other things which came to over £90?!?Another shop at Tesco for items that were cheaper than sainsburys, including a !!!!!! up with spuds so now we have a lot of mash to eat! Then top ups since and a few extra luxuries like tonic water (hello g&t my old friend) and chocolate spread. We’ve spent £180 already which is very alarming but remembering that we knew spends would be higher this month for various reasons lessens the blow.Meal plan this week is going well!Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Oh that reminds me!! I managed to cook the beans tonight using a video on YT although I did check the beans 4 times which probably extended the cooking time!Still not really sure what I’m doing but they were cooked which was good!@PipneyJane I think it was your recipe having spotted liquid smoke at the local market today (£2.70 …. I was expecting double this price!) however probably due to not precooking anything (other than the beans) and bunging it all in the PC I felt it lacked depth of flavour for my own tastes. I think I’ll also add lime to the leftovers too. Thank you though Pip, it’s such a great base for adding extras to.Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Hi, I'm a long-time lurker.
Please can I join the challenge as really need to get spending under control.
£600 for the month.
Our month will run from 27th May - 30th June and the budget is for 3 adults, one teenage boy who doesn't stop eating, 1 dog, 1 cat and 4 chickens. This will be for all food, toiletries, cleaning supplies and pet food & supplies. We are a vegetarian household so no meat or fish but we have been spending way too much on fake meats, hoping to use more lentils and beans this month. We also have an allotment so grow a lot of our own veg but we are in the hungry gap at the moment so only really broad beans, a little lettuce and chard ready.
Have already spent £137.71 on a Lidl shop and few bits from other shops and also got the chicken food and bedding which should last 2 months.
Fingers crossed we can stay within budget for the rest of the month 🙂June Grocery challenge £200.62/£40010 -
Hello Elsiepac, thankyou for running the challenge again.
Please I can I be added to the June GC. I will go with £210, thats £10 more than I set for May as we will need to stock up on tinned tomatoes.
That's for 2 adults, all meals, cleaning products and toiletries. Does not include booze or eating out.
Thankyou Joedenise for your info re emojis👍
So, re the bland cauliflower cheese soup 😕 I didnt have to resort to my plan B afterall, ie drip feeding it to mr Van in his sleep🤭, instead I was kind and added cumin to it in copious amounts, turned out VERY nice indeed 👍. Had 2 more portions for lunch yesterday so 2 down, 2 to go, but will look forward to that now (thankyou again Joedenise x).
No spends since last Friday. Mushroom stir fry Monday and Tuesday night....I dont mind repetitive, got a bumper carton of mushrooms and a big bag of beansprouts that needed using up. Although I have frozen a lot of the mushrooms. Cheese and red onion omlette with lots of veg and a few potatoes tonight.
Good luck everyone for June

PipneyJane and MissRikkiC,
I had to google edible 'liquid smoke', never heard or seen it before, but I love the sound if it.
But....could it be subbed for smoked paprika??? I have a large stash of this stuff, love it.
Welcome sprozza.6 -

Good Morning June GC'rs!
I have come to confess a £28.99 (total) spend this morning. We had to undertake a mercy dash to reunite DH with a piece of equipment, so as our route took us right past "all" the shops, we did some considered purchasing.
I was lucky enough to get a MrL box, although it's broken my heart to have to compost some broccoli, that whilst still in date, was completely 'over' 🙁The peanut butter I get for LG has gone up 10p, but I think pretty much everything else I bought today was priced 'as last week'. We then ducked into MrAl where i got chopped tommies - still 28p (as are MrL - but I noticed that MrA are now 32p - a 4p price hike in just 2 weeks!) and a bag of wonky peppers which had 5 red peppers and only 1 small, green pepper in - result! Because we were the side of Greying town that has iceyland and fArmf00ds, we went for an amble around. My goodness, no wonder we were virtually the only customers in FF and one of only a handful in Icey. The prices! And shrinkflation. I do sometimes buy frozen veg from FF, but I see that they have shrunk their packet sizes, and now charge £1 for 600g of Broccoli! I do realise that they stock alot of branded foods, but even so - there didn't even seem to be any offers to weigh up - you know, 3 for £5 or 2 for £3 (perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough). Iceyland didn't have anything to offer today - I did take a better look at the frozen vegetarian section, because transporting home wasn't such an issue today, but wasn't tempted - on price - by anything. I did notice some hummus that had been discounted, but as it was only discounted to more than you'd pay in HB anyway, I left it on the shelf. I was tempted by YS'd large eggs - 10 for 65p, in date until the 9th, but I couldn't (today - ask me the same question next week....) bring myself to buy caged bird eggs. I did spot loaves of w/meal bread in Icey, YS'd to 49p - after I'd bought what I needed in MrL....🙁..... and I've no room for more bread in the freezer......🙁Ah well, left for someone else to get a bargain 😊
I did note - over several shops, including B&M - that had I been in the market for sliced meats - particularly honey roast ham and roast beef to make jubilee sandwiches, I would have hit the motherload and been able to feed the 5000 for very little outlay.
I am happy with my purchases today (still didn't fill too many bags......), but am under no illusion that without a vehicle, and a reason to go on that particular route, I possibly would not have had access to those shops today. Even the ones that I walked around and then out of again, empty-handed.

Ah, thanks @MissRikkiC
We left the house as there seemed to be break in the rain yesterday, only to get rained on at the end of the road so we turned back and just managed to miss getting drenched. Decided to brave it again today, still got wetbut got to the shops this time. It ended up being a wasted journey as the greengrocer didn’t have any of the giant cucumbers we wanted. However I did get a giant lettuce from sains reduced to 14p - I think they had way to many delivered as the lady at the checkout said that’s the second one to be sold, only 100 and something to go now. Made the mistake of not taking little one a drink with us so 70p spent there aswell.
I couldn’t face paying sains prices for the cucumber, carrots and cream needed for tomorrow so decided we will have a walk to ald1 tomorrow morning instead. So 84p spent so far .8 -
And I've hurtled off into June's budget with a combined spend of £114.58; that was L!dls for the monthly non-perishables, as we were almost out of their Gold café-press/filter coffee, which I love - there wasn't any on the shelves last month, I was down to my last packet - Makr0 for just a couple of items, and our local C0-0p for tonight's tea, as someone had already eaten the leftovers that were going to be re-jigged! I was mildly amused when I put the loo-roll away to find that I could now fit 5 rolls on the shelves where only 4 would fit previously - do they really think we won't notice?
So that will leave me just over £100 for each weekly shop, which looks quite do-able from here... oh dear, is that tempting fate?!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)7
