Thanks to @Greying_Pilgrim for the DIY dal mix recipe which I made yesterday evening using the garam masala version and was delicious and very filling, that's definitely made it into my successful recipes folder and will be repeated.

@Greying_Pilgrim I reckon that one’s a myth too. As I always season lentil soup well before cooking and it turns out great.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Not sure what to do with 2 salmon fillets (froze them) as there are 5 of us, though we may have some frozen ones already. I don't really like it, but will eat it and DD definitely won't but everyone else will. Maybe risotto? Pasta bake?
@MissRikkiC have you considered making oat milk? It might be too much of a faff but it is just oats and water plus a blender and sieve. Here's a recipe from BBC Good Food - Cheap in cost (10p a batch) but less so in time. Still holding off from the shops I nearly booked a TGTG bag for this evening but then remembered we are out from 6.45pm so maybe tomorrow. I would like some fruit and have a couple of Morries offers for soft fruit, so might call in when I check if my missing prescription item has arrived yetSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Not sure if this will be of use to anyone but the nice lady at the 1940's experiment blog has made a pandemic cookbook and it is free to download. Might help some

I always do this for the summer as I’d rather be eating my calories when I’m watching my intake than drinking themin the winter ill enjoy it again!

Good Morning GC'rs
MrL shop for me today. I did manage to get a £1.50 box and it had useful things in it - a nice mix of vegetables and fruit - everything will be used. £15.55 spent there in total. Black olives have gone up 6p a jar - boo! And celery was 50p - I know it yo-yo's in price, but that represented a price hike to my shop. I don't think anything else had gone up in price, although the store still hasn't altered the SEL for olive spread nor the wholemeal bread we buy. I was unable to get sandwich pickle and risotto rice from MrL today.
I then went to HB to see if they had any coffee in stock (different branch) and they didn't - I noticed that they only stock branded stuff now 🙁And maybe it was that particular branch (not particularly big), they seemed to be going out of 'food' and seemed to stock more 'food-like items' 🙁 So I nipped across the road into MrA, and they clearly don't stock risotto rice of any description - not even the branded, boxed, uber-expensive stuff. So I made do with 2 jars of their gold instant coffee - £5 spent.
£20.55 total spent. And only a FParty 8 pack of low strength beer bought to cry into........ 🥲 Oh, I did buy a pack of 10 breaded cheese jalepeno sticks in the RTC section of MrL for 20p. Not had them before, so thought 20p was worth a punt. The chilli will probably put LG off, but we'll see.
Away to update my signature.
