Hello
A weeks spends to report between L**l, S***sburys, C**p and W****ose. Total spend £102.82 😳. We had run out of a lot and I am feeding 2 very hungry teens my husband and I. The teens are always looking for snacks and I try and have healthy choices available but they eat so much! I think I saw a savoury flapjack recipe somewhere on here which sounds like it could be a good option, I can't find it in the recipe list at the beginning of the thread - can anyone help please?
Thank you

Hi everyone, I’ve had a few NSDs since Monday. Thought I’d had one today but when I checked the bank DH has spent £1.02 at work today, also just now, managed to reserve a tgtg bag for tomorrow, not exactly grocery as it’s for a discount bakery but I am including it anyway as have no other pot for it to come from, £2.72. The kids love to get either sausage rolls or pasties from here when we have a walk up the town, so I’m hoping it’s decent and makes a meal with some salad from home.
Planning on it being a NSD again tomorrow and then will be walking to ald1 on Sunday for a few things needed for next week. Total so far £60.88 spent, with two weeks.
thank you for posting the link to the bbc cheap recipe pages, I have put a few recipes in my favourites and put them in the meal plan for next week, including the bean burgers, ham hash and the Chana masala6 -

Good Evening GC'rs
Hey Pinwheel - looks like joedenise has answered your query 👍 I linked to the recipe for Savoury Flapjacks that dearest Seaotter posted on one of my DFW diaries, yonks ago, in the April GC.
The link is HERE - we can cross reference to see if it is the one that dearest joedenise has provided. Anyway, hope it works for you and fills the boots of any hungry teens, tweens, spouses and any others that like a savoury 'somethingness'.
** EDIT - I think I may also have linked to a pic I took at the time, so this is the POST I MADE when I'd made the flapjacks from Seaotter's recipe. I added in sun-dried tomatoes and black olives to mine - simply because we like them. you could add any manner of seeds, nuts, cheese, antipasti etc - whatever floats your boat. **END OF EDIT

Good morning challengers,
2 shops done this week, one just a pop in to Mr M to buy my toothpaste, on offer, as that's when I always buy it. Used to get it for £1 when on offer, but now its £1.50 ON OFFER !!! I'm not happy about that at all 😡 but as it's the only branded product I buy, no other is the same for me - I have tried, I'll stick with it, begrudgingly. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it next time I'm in somewhere like HBs though. I'm on a mission....
Also £47.50 spent in mr Aldeeee. I'm quite happy about that as finally they had their 28p tins of tomatoes in, so I bought 24 ( that's how I usually buy my tinned toms beans and chickpeas), plus 12 cartons UHT, comes in so handy.
Mushroom (that I froze 2 weeks ago) and veg stir fry for dinner tonight and tomorrow night for me, chicken stir fry for Mr Van.
So, my total for June so far us £106.32/£210.

Morning June GC'rs!
I went to a 'food waste diversion scheme' yesterday. Hmmmmm. Perhaps it was the organisation of it, perhaps it was that particular venue, but I've yet to be convinced that in diverting food out of landfill, the scheme doesn't actually cause other environmental impact. This particular scheme encourages car/fuel use and does rather have a whiff of worthiness, in that stuff is pressed on you - without you being asked if you could use it, or whether it is in fact still edible..... I was implored to take some 'greens'. I'm afraid I composted them, as they were yellows....... There were other issues too, but I will try again, but at the moment, I'm afraid I'm not sold that it holds a solution for our household.
It should be a NSD today. We have plenty of food available.
I have written the meal-plan for next week. It includes some meals that didn't get made due this week due to changing plans, and makes best use of items that were in the MrL box etc.
M - Smoked tofu buddha bowl
Tu - Tanzanian black-eye bean and coconut soup
W - Lentil bake (F) and mixed vegetables
Th - Mung bean casserole with rice
F - Lentil bolognese and pasta
Sa - Black olive pizza and wedges
Su - Baked potato and vegetarian bobotie.
I had soaked the mung beans but had to abort plans to make the casserole due to things cropping up, so I cooked the mung beans, put them in the freezer and will make the casserole this week. The soup is more like an 'all in one meal' and I do make the spice mix from the recipe for it too, as it is simple and useful as general spice too, so I make up a jar. The buddha bowl will definitely feature a tomato salad as I have some more 'traffic light' tomatoes to use, and I made last night's Italian sausage pasta dish using the cherry tomatoes that were in the MrL box.
I was delighted that last night, the sausage/pasta dish fed the 3 of us. LG is not keen on tomatoes, and did complain a little, but they did, indeed eat up all their tea. I know we've a long way to go, but I am so pleased that at least 2 meals this week served the 3 of us. It saves money, time and let's face it, is easier........ Progress.

GP, love the sound of your Tanzanian soup, thankyou for the link. I have all the ingredients except the black eyed peas (wonder if I could sub for red kidney beans, mmm) and the fenugreek.
But particularly LOVE the name of the author if the book👍.

Good morning
Thank you very much @joedenise and @Greying_Pilgrim, I will definitely give those recipes a try this week.
Thank you also for the link to the dahl mix by Dr R*py, such a good idea to have it all measured out ready in a jar. It's definitely something I will do to improve our working from home lunches, and perfect to pass on to the students in my life .
Have a lovely weekend everyone!June 2022 GC £372.89/£400
