Soontobe, yes, I have washed out and hung out and reused plastic food bags for years now, cant remember the last time I had to buy any. They only get thrown away into the green bin if they're torn. I never reuse if had raw meat in them.
And......I've never had salmonella (or any yucky thing like that 🤞).
I reuse used butter, yoghurt and cream cartons for alot of food stuff too.
Crazycatlady2, I dont include medical, eating out, booze or furry friends food in my monthly grocery budget.
Suffolk lass, yes I agree, both great names. But now I really would like to change my name by depoll to Crecent Dragonwagon 😄.

Good afternoon, hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. My NSD didn’t happen yesterday unfortunately. Spent £5.16 and not totally sure what I bought
Then I’ve been to Aldi this morning and spent £12.81, this is everything I need for the week ahead and included 28 dental sticks for the dogs, cumin, chilli flakes, milk, yogurt, chips, potatoes, cucumber. Just couldn’t get frozen peppers but should have enough to be stretched. I also managed to get some rolls, cobs and seeded loaf from olio this morning after not having much luck with it lately.
Have just ordered the dogs food, had to order 2x15kg bags instead of the usual one bag, as to get free delivery because they’ve started a minimum spend. Dog food has increased by 85p a bag aswell, but I did have enough points for £5 off my order, this is not included in grocery budget but cost £42.60but I won’t have to buy any for a few months now.
Total is now £78.85/£150 and I am (mostly) determined to stay out of the shops this week!5 -
Hi folks, finally here.
I have bought bits which I've not yet used in the last GC; so I've added them up and popped them on my sig.
Decided to delete all the old signatures and totals from way back. As I can't tag that we've had major changes in the way we Grocery shop, or that RL got real, to reflect the various totals!
£21.28 for the first spend, which is officially tomorrow.
Pray for me 😛, my Dd is here from uni later and not sure how long for 🤔GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £76.30/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Hello all, a few busy weekends away have set me back on keeping up with the thread, so I will be reading through this week, I always learn a couple of tips each time so thanks everyone.
Noticed the signature issue too.....is there are chance it is an IT thing that will be fixed? A useful reminder to keep the info somewhere else to refer to as my totals were useful to me.
Shopping has been ok this month, 2 medium shops done at Mr Al and Mr S, a little one at Mr A yesterday as I was nearer there for an Olio collection.
Need to have a little word with the husband as out of the £135 on food in June so far, £20 of that is on energy drinks, 15 cans so far! He also drinks a fair bit of pepsi max and tracking the receipts has made me realise how much. I'm going to suggest he cuts down, more for his health as well as the money.
So total for us so far is £186.00 food, household, pets and 1 takeaway.Grocery challenge June £241.19/£320
July £274.01/£2156 -
@Soontobeoap I wash out and reuse freezer bags too, though not those that have had meat, fish, or anything greasy in them. Never had any problems. OH was slightly concerned by what the neighbours might think when I peg them out on the line (do I care? No!), but he has got used to it over time5

@K9sandFelines I have found it very difficult to budget when numbers eating change especially loved ones. Obviously their favourites and a few extra treats come into the equation. It throws everything. Good luck.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

Perhaps your neighbours might think it’s a good idea and follow suit!5

@DawnW I hang bags inside by kitchen sink for exactly that reason. 😂.
@Naturelover22 my husband was an avid Pepsi max drinker and also didn't see the point in me "penny pinching" on food. He hss started to look at the price of some things. Pepsi max is a thing of the past (a treat if we go out) and he now drinks water! He hasn't even noticed that he has joined me in my quest. 😂. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself!!
