Santander...! Things they could maybe do better...

Santander has the 'peek' option which shows only the balance without logging in. It's a widget on my iPhone.eDicky said:Yes, when I want a quick look at what is going on with my account, during a spare moment or for whatever reason, I do want it to be quick. Just as when I check the weather or the news, the apps open immediately.2 -
Gone quiet... so I'll add another moan from me on OTPs (I know you can avoid this on the app) but :
Why is Santander using 8 digit alphanumeric OTPs while just about everyone else is on 6 digit numeric only?
It's
a) hard to remember
b) so you do it in 2 bites, if you're a bit slow, by the time you get to second bite the phone's blank
c) It's easy to confuse letters and numbers on sms screen: B8 1IL 0O S5 and get one wrong and you're back to waiting for another to come through..

Why don't you use Google Messages for Web, then you can just copy and paste the code1

I think that only works for Android phonesColdIron said:Why don't you use Google Messages for Web, then you can just copy and paste the code0 -
That's right, so a practical solution for most users. There may be an equivalent for Apple

The most practical solution is to use the Santander app......but I am repeating myself 🤣0

So there's workarounds... Why would a company that should be in search of excellence require people to use workarounds?
Why not design a process that doesn't need people to find a workaround?1 -
That's reminds me of another shortcoming: Some of the other banks OTP text appear with a 'copy' option. Not Santander's though.ColdIron said:Why don't you use Google Messages for Web, then you can just copy and paste the code0 -
Not sure that’s true as I’ve used the select text on the part of the message that I want copied then pasted it the OTP box quite a few times via iPhone.soulsaver said:

The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:1 -
Not relevant. Google Messages for Web is a tab in your browser. Santander can't stop you copying anything you like in that tab. Then just paste it into the OTP on the Santander tab. I hadn't noticed that the Santander OTP is 8 chars because I never look at it, I just copy and paste whatever is in the SMS message. Useful for all sorts of things. Give it a gosoulsaver said:
