Unless you can fire Boris directly you didn’t really have much say one way or the another on how he should react to partygateMouldyOldDough said:So the government is trying to make us forget about partygate by offering us all (?) up to £850 in payments to compensate for price risesIts blatant£650 to lowest income£150 to disabled£300 to pensioners£400 to everyoneHow do they expect us to react ?Boris should just apologise rather than put the UK even further in to debt
Also don’t know what you mean he should apologise as if that will magically make it all go away. End of the day you don’t have to forget about it you can hold him accountable by not voting Tory in council elections or at the general election.I didn't vote for him in the first place - he's an unfit PM !

How does your position make any logical sense? I did not vote for Johnson to be PM, but I do not get to opt out of paying taxes, it would be idiotic to opt out of getting a small proportion of my taxes back. I would much rather then spent them on health or education, or spent the money on renewables, but this government has realised that when you survey the general public asking them if they would like "free money" the vast majority say yes, even if those people are too stupid to realise that they are being bribed.Deleted_User said:

My reply was to the other person who said Boris should just apologise rather than put the UK further into debt not about if you voted or didn’t vote from him.MattMattMattUK said:

And then you have those who don't even get the right to vote yet still pay the same taxes :PMattMattMattUK said:

Will a disabled pensioner get £300 and £150 and £400 ie) £850
ie) £400 to everyone, £300 to pensioners and £150 for disabledAlso how will they determine whether a disabled person is entitled to the payment ?The new Warrm Homes Scheme rules - are based purely on income rather than disabilityie Used to be DLA/PIP & low income - now just low income.

"when you survey the general public asking them if they would like "free money" the vast majority say yes, even if those people are too stupid to realise that they are being bribed. "
Democracy is important and relies on the consent of the loser to work so criticizing those who don't vote how you want them to is the really stupid thing, we saw it over Brexit and we saw it after Donald Trump was elected.
The public (voters) NEVER get it wrong.0 -
The government does not pay attention to details, they should have banned standing charges on prepayment meters (but with higher unit rates to get the money back), allowing the poor to switch off the gas for eight months without accruing huge charges (to someone on basic benefits) and cut right back on electric without being hammered by the increased standing charge.

Democracy also relies on the electorate being educated and rational enough to make decisions which do not negatively impact society to a large extent. Criticizing those who have taken actions which have negatively impacted oneself, or even oneself and the others is perfectly legitimate, everyone's views are fair game, no one should be beyond criticism.Benny2020 said:"when you survey the general public asking them if they would like "free money" the vast majority say yes, even if those people are too stupid to realise that they are being bribed. The public/voters/electorate regularly get things wrong, greater than 50% of people believing something to be true or beneficial, does not make make that belief correct. All it means is that if you can convince more than half of those who vote (within the constraints of the electoral system, FPTP is does not require 50% or more) to vote a certain way then you get to impose your will on everyone.1
