Where to holiday in Majorca

Hi,
I was lucky enough to go to Mallorca for a 6 month research project (inspecting hotels) and ended up staying 6 years. My advice would be:
Palma Nova is not as bad as it sounds, but I still wouldn't bother. Santa Ponsa is only ok. West coast Deya/Soller very lovely but expensive - this is where the 'jet set' go or have holiday homes. Good east Coast resorts include the very nice and slightly upmarket Cala d'Or, I also relly like Porto Colom. In the North Purto Pollensa is definately the superior resort, and I'd avoid Alcudia too.
Me - I love Palma - a fabulous City, great restaurants and nightlife, easy access to beaches and great days out. Do consider it too.
Where-ever you go, try to get off the beaten track and you'll find a wonderful, stunningly beautiful island, that has not all been spoilt by mass tourism.0 -

We have been going to a shared apartment at Cala Bona (East Coast) for about 20 years - nice harbour area and opportunities to walk to Cala Millor along the prom. If you feel like having a longer stroll, Sa Coma is accessible and you could catch a bus back. You can travel by boat from Cala Bona to Cala Millor, Porto Cristo, Cala Ratjada. There are plenty of bars & restaurants - there is a strict midnight limit on entertainment noise from the bars.
I would recommend Hotel Alicia (Portland) in Cala Bona.
A better option, in my view, is Puerto Soller on the spectacular North coast. Regular tram service to Soller where you could catch the train to take you over the mountains, for a day trip to Palma.0 -
definately recommend puerto pollensa, lovely town with bars and shops and a fabulous marina to oggle big boats. Old town 10 mins away and has a large square surrounded by good restaurants, lovely atmosphere sitting outside at night, but you need to book as tables usually full in the best ones.0

been to cala dor which absloutley loved same with peurto pollensa beautiful resorts with no lager louts mostly families. Can Picafort has lovely long beach. Santa Ponsa ok mostley irish and scottish resort. Try booking flights and hotels seperatly we booked flights last year through https://www.flyglobespan.com and apartments through https://www.majorca-accommodation.com works out much cheaper.0

If you don't mind German's everywhere, then go to Peguera. It is on the same coastline as Magalluf but is the cleanest, most beautiful resort on the island. The only other recommendation I can give you is to hire a car and get inland. It is fantastic. I would move there tomorrow given half a chance and, yes, it would be inland. Have a happy holiday.0

Hi, I have an apartment in Cala D'Or which I would be happy to rent out, dates available up to 19 July if this is any good, not far from the beach, new 2 bedroomed, 2 bathrooms, with all mod cons, shared pool. Lots of places to eat etc nearby.

My 1st post - so hopefully I've done it right!!!
We've just come back from Cala d'Or & it is a superb place - very family orientated, lots of the restaurants have ramps for prams etc. pretty compact & reasonably lively without being Magaluf or Agia Napa. Though having an 11 month & 3 year old the opportunity to explore didn't come up too much! You weren't kept awake with banging music all night though.
It was just getting busy last week & I should imagine it could get a bit fraught in mid holiday season, we actually stayed nearer to Cala Esmerelda but it was walking distance from the centre of Cala d'Or & had plenty of bars & restaurants on the doorstep.0 -
We also went to Sa Coma a couple of years ago, its a lovely resort with a fab beach but our appartments were dirty & horrible  My parents were there the same time & they stayed in a hotel which was absolutely fab.
