Majority of people have no requirement for a face to face appointment. Not as if it's a consumer organisation offering a service. The US prefers to keep people out.ledwards777 said:Noodledoodleman we have but they won't speak to anyone without an appointment. Which I guess is there isn't enough staff.0 -
With the greatest of respect, what has this got to do with your issue? You - the applicant, made an error and created the next problem. Wrong button pressed and then missed again at the review stage. A degree of ownership I feel is required.ledwards777 said:Yes was question 5 . As they were all scroll down option of yes or no it must have moved to yes as I was moving down the page. Again o know it was a mistake from myself and I should have picked it up when reviewing but again didn't realise I messed up until after submission. But reading posts and government and esta advice all lead to saying the CBP can correct this. They just seem not to want too. Getting a visa in a normal world isn't that difficult. But after covid and the fact millions of people were made redundant. Just find it hard to believe this industry hasn't put provisions in place for when everything opened up.
I am sorry that you are in this situation, don’t wish to be overly harsh and I really do hope you get it sorted but please don’t look to apportion blame elsewhere.

Westin with all respect think I said and admitted my error. And it has a lot to do with with the situation the industry was in the toilet during covid like a lot of other businesses and sectors but they should have seen this upturn in demand coming and they have not reacted quick enough. I'm not talking just about me what about all the other people that have had holidays cancelled due to staff shortages. With airlines airports etc. Thats not down to individual mistakes.0

Unfortunately it has always been hit and miss as to whether you can get them to correct / cancel an ESTA application where there has been a genuine error. More often than not they push people down the visa route. It hasn't changed as a result of covid, it has always been that way.
Doesn't help you unfortunately :-(1 -

Yes I see that now. the website says you can call them to correct it. But they say no for the question I got wrong . Which is fair enough but it should say that . I wouldn't have 45mins calling the United States otherwise. I dont mind applying for the visa but surely they can clear the backlog quicker.0 -
It surely can't be a surprise it isn't a simple case of asking them to change the answer and then grant your ESTA given the question you have answered yes to.0
-
Quite possibly a silly question, but have you tried to complete a new ESTA application and if so what was the result?

This would be an option, for another $14, but an ESTA is technically an authority to travel not an authority to enter and whilst the airline will let you on the plane if the second application is granted you may find the US border force dont allow entry at the other end due to the admission of previous overstaying/illegal entry to the US etcTELLIT01 said:Quite possibly a silly question, but have you tried to complete a new ESTA application and if so what was the result?0 -
There's not much 'the industry' can do to deal with a backlog at a government agency. And in fairness the government agency have put in place the ESTA process so that almost everyone in your situation doesn't have to get a visa.ledwards777 said:Westin with all respect think I said and admitted my error. With airlines airports etc. Thats not down to individual mistakes. As the last poster tightauldgit above says - the ESTA is an official immigration document from a US Government department, nothing to do with the tourist industry, businesses or staff shortages etc.The questions asked (presumably similar to Visa applications) are intended to identify any individual(s) that they deem unacceptable to enter the USA or its territories. Not that you come into that category of course - unless you wrongly answer the application.
