Increasing costs of EV Charging

That's interesting.Petriix said:That's almost exactly equivalent to 50 miles per gallon at £1.80 a litre.
Early 2020 (before Covid) I was looking at EV options and the cost I worked out then using public chargers was almost the same pence per mile for energy as ICE fuel. The running cost savings really required home charging or free supermarket / workplace etc charging.
I never changed cars and never looked again at the sum, but it is not really surprising that the pence per mile for energy is still matched to ICE fuel. There is a market-place set price and the operators are matching to that market place.0 -
Obviously public charging varies massively in cost. Rapid charging still costs 27p per kWh at Lidl and, with certain subscription services, some of the more expensive networks (like Ionity) become more reasonable too.Grumpy_chap said:

There is an amount of free charging available out there, although I wouldn't rely on the public free charging to be available as demand increases.0
