Exclusive Jul 23v1 (Fixed) British Gas

Some many times I have thought in recent days should I fix my electricity or not. However today I have taken the plunge and fixed with BG for the fix until July 31 2023. For me it's the most sensible thing to do.1

Hey Pal, having a similar issue like yourself. Are you able to confirm for me on your british gas account, when you was looking at this tariff, under the section "illustrative cost for this tariff" (gas and electric) can you confirm what assumed annual consumption you were presented with. Currently on my account for this tariff i have electric as 2,900kWh and Gas as 12,000kWh. I am trying to find out if these are personal projections or average use projections?Chelt_chap said:Given the news today about the october price cap rise is this a good deal now?Gas tariff costs

Do you know your annual consumption in kWh to work out the true cost yourself?1 -
hey pal, well your response poses a dilemma i am trying to work out, i have done a post in "energy" called " Time to fix my energy bill? - British Gas Misleading Customers?" (unable to post links yet). But if you look at my first post the offer British gas is giving me then is heavily undercharged , so i would hate to join but then its not actually correct.Mstty said:

Is this a "good" deal (using the term relatively) just for the electricity portion?I've been offered the same as the OP (same area) and am currently on the SVT (27.8 unit and 48.1 standing) with a usage of 3026kwh per year. It works out at £20 extra for the next 4 months by my dodgy maths. But would I get that back after October, through to July?I'm currently with another supplier for gas, which is a whole different question!0

How good is your crystal ball? I suspect that there isn't going to be a massive difference between sticking on SVT or taking the fix so it may come down to how much you value certainty.1 -
If my crystal ball was working it would have foreseen my electricity supplier (PFP) going pop. So it is back under it's velvet cover
For what it's worth I think you may be right, I'm sure British Gas wouldn't be offering this as a "loss leader" and would expect to make money on it, as you say from those that need surety for either peace of mind or budgetary reasons.Still bugadifikno what to do though
