Late to the party as ever, still lots going on here but in a nice way.
Sending you all love and positive vibes.
Quick question for those of you who crochet - I would really like to learn, but having looked at lots of online videos I am confused as to what I actually NEED to purchase to get going. Also if anyone has used a basic ‘how to’ guide they have found useful I’d appreciate it xx

ASB, I used this video I think, a cheap ball of wool that was on offer in the supermarket and a 5mm crochet hook because that was what I found in my MIL bag of knitting needles. The wool label said 4 mm hook but 5 was near enough. I now have a 4 mm as I made some remembrance day poppies, they were not as fiddly as I imagined (free Ravelry patern). I enjoy making the squares and it's tidied up the left over wall that was lying around. I've not yet worked out how to join the squares together, but hopefully someone will enlighten me. I started to stop me eating unnecessary c**p when I was just bored not hungry.
GI, that's fantastic
I'm sure there are plenty of folks on here who can help us learn9 -
Thanks Mademoiselle, although I can’t see a link to a video?
The winter nights got me thinking about learning a craft last year, and a farmer locally to me does bits and pieces, she has her daughter who is the same age as mine doing it too. I don’t know her well enough to ask her for help, but I am really wanting to give it a go xx7 -
ASB.. Bella coco videos on the tube of you are supposed to be really good.. I'd go with aran and 5mm hook or DK and 4mm so the loops you use are clear.. and use a smooth yarn not a fluffy one.. but dirt cheap you will be pulling it out 1000 times.

Hello,
Finally made it back in again.Busy weekend, put a few hours in at the allotment and in the back garden, but many more hours needed. Picked a few bits - last of the cavolo nero, spinach and chard from last year’s plants, plus some rhubarb. It was a long day at work today, with little enthusiasm for Monday being mustered. This evening, I need to meal plan (could have sworn that I had done that), as I was all at sea this evening without it. Rustled up a veggie stir fry, which tbh would have been on the plan anyway.
One load of towels washed today and DH has got them dried outside. Dinner done, WULTD, kitchen put to bed.
GI - love the dinos! The shawl is beautiful - it’s very similar to the one that I knitted for DD.
Hugs all round xx8 -
Thank you for the lovely comments 😘
Dinner has been eaten, and I have sorted the kitchen. Also, the rain stopped so I have sowed various lettuce seeds in modules. I will pop them in spaces at the allotment and garden when (if) they get big enough. I did some leeks as well as I hadn't done any yet. Better late than never! I also relocated lots of snails!! 🤬
Ok. TV and crochet now. Have a good evening everyone 😊8 -
I haven't had to water the pots - it has rained steadily since about 3pm. Result!
Rosie didn't enjoy her walk in the rain and turned round after 100 yards. I was quite glad to follow her
I have finished the awkward admin job
And there's a new series of LLF to watch at 9.00 this evening
Hope your headache has gone, Round x
More (((hugs))) to everyone xx8 -
Spent a frustrating hour online to one of the exam boards which keep issuing me marking contracts and then cancelling them! 🙄
I don't even really want to do it! Maybe I should take it as a sign instead ☺️
Usual dailies done here, now setting up lunches etc. Also keen to start crocheting, I love the granny squares.
GI those dinosaurs are adorable!
