Take it to a proper garage, I bet the cost comes down too.Oh_Daesu said:
What Halfords Garage is telling me the reason for my brake down (Loss of Power) is due to E10 its damaged the engine and I need Fuel Pump, Swirl Flaps, Spark Plugs and a few other things need to be replaced now.TadleyBaggie said:I think you would need more than just “E10 destroyed my engine”, what exactly has happened to it?4 -

Supposedly its E10 that has made the Red Bull F1 car unreliable.0

Well not affecting the rest is it....Life in the slow lane1

It can affect engine seals and fuel pumps.0

What engine Zafira do you have?
Highly unlikely that E10 fuel has caused all of those issues at the same time.
Swirl flap issues are quite common on some of the the Vauxhall engines and have nothing to do with E10 fuel.
Spark plugs also very unlikely as they are the same across many engines and do not have issues.
Fuel pump maybe, but you would have had to have done quite a lot of miles, or run the car a lot on low fuel levels for it to have happened in that timeframe.
Sounds like buzzword assumptions.
Of those faults, the fuel pump and plugs would need addressing at maybe £200. The swirl flaps you can buy kits to lock them in place for not a lot of money (under £100 iirc).
Unlikely it is anywhere near £2k to fix. Take it to a Vauxhall specialist (not a main dealer).1 -
Halfords told me I needed new discs and pads, four new shocks and four new tyres. I didn't.Oh_Daesu said:
This is what the garage has told me, Apparently loads of Zafira's are coming in with the same issues caused by E10.Grumpy_chap said:How did you establish that the vehicle is not compatible with E10 petrol?
How did you establish that the damage is associated with the E10 petrol?
Did you review the guidance on the Vauxhall website?

Not surprising seeing as the website posted above advises Zafiras with one particular engine cannot use E10.Oh_Daesu said:

Unfortunately you have gone against their advice and have suffered the inevitable consequences.2 -
This was the final death nail for my old Zafira. It was highly unlikely to pass another MOT, didn’t like hills or long journeys and drank petrol. The thought of having to use more expensive petrol was the last straw (mind you, it got to the stage where we had to say soothing things to the car in the hopes that it would get us to our destination!).The_Fat_Controller said:

First get a second opinion from a decent indy garage who knows about Vauxhalls.2
