@JJC1956 is the steradent just placed in the mug with cold water and then left overnight?
PS As someone mentioned above, also put your Teaspoons in the cup/mug whilst cleaning, kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

My better half has been given a few Porcelain Mugs over the years, which she uses on a daily basis, but in a normal wash using a scrubber the stains don’t come out, I found 1 Steradent every now and then brings them up perfect.

I use bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) to clean the stains from tea from mugs, cups, spoons, and my teeth. Works really fast and does a great job. Just mix with a little water.

I use my dishwasher, not for the teeth though :D

TBH if the stains are that bad that you need steradent or bicarb, you are buying rubbish cheap tea.  I simply wipe my mugs with a bit more pressure than usual, though I must admit the teapot goes in the dishwasher  every now and again.

For a weaker brew try Ceylon, or Darjeeling.

I think a lot of this depends on where you live and the hardness of your water. I also re-use mugs through the day rather than a fresh one each time, so get a bit of staining even though we use a water filter because of our really hard water.

There's another debate. Fresh cup each time or reuse previous cup?

If it’s the same type of tea then re-use. Different type/flavour tea then new cup. We drink many cups of tea a day… and only one of us ever washes up!

We are a hard water area and also have staining issues, makes a little bit of difference if it’s my expensive decaf earl grey or OHs Pg but still stains. I use astonish cup clean. But it does take a bit of the glaze off after time so might try some sterident, thanks.

I use the same cup, and rinse it out, and refill ofeten during the day :)

My washing up gets done after dinner in the evening in one go so I use only a bowl or two of water at most per day My water bill per month is £9.70 so I like to conserve water as I do other utilities.

Left over washing up water goes on the garden. I am a definite zero waste lady if I can for both food and water, they all cost cash and apart from that conserving stuff is better for the planet. "Every little helps "    :):):)

I also live in a hard water area. Cheap teas are heavy on tannin - they are designed to give your tea a strong colour, hence the staining.  Buying quality tea is my luxury, especially as I drink it black.

Oww. I never re-use a cup. As they are used they go into the DW - out of sight - and washed all together ready for tomorrow's brew.
Staining isn't normally a problem as I drink very weak tea with milk. I clean them very rarely but when I do they get a soak in Astonish cup clean.
When this happens I pop the teaspoons in as well.

Small teapot with an inbuilt strainer. A teabag usually has more tea in it than the amount of loose tea I use for a pot  The strainer is easy to empty into a teabag pot I bought on the big river site so no mess

It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I dont tend to drink a full cup of tea, during the day, so it's a tea bag between two of us. However it's got to be Yorkshire tea. Bought by the big bag full, from b and m or the Iceland food warehouse.

I do drink a full cup of tea most mornings, which my other half brings upstairs to me. Sometimes, he does this a little too early and I have been known to warm it up in the microwave or (dont judge 🤣) I pop it into a travel mug and warm it up when I get to work.
