That's not good about the lies, no wonder you are angry.

Your nephew and the fireworks, plus the fish and pineapple fritters are definitely better news. Everyone deserves a chippy dinner once in a while.

And however yucky some aspects of the day were, you had a better outcome than the slug. Always something to be grateful for.  :D

  • On holiday now for a week. So of course I have gotten up at 5.30, looked after the baby for an hour and cleaned the front room window 🤣🤣🤣
Laughing at my own ridiculousness. And also forgot how bad I am at cleaning windows. Although I might blame the 15 year old bottle of window cleaner for the streaks 🤣 But at least the baby can now bang on the window in Nana's house.
Coming back a bit from the laser focus of last week and putting the whole money situation in perspective. I cannot shut down everything to pay for the electrics. Although that is brain's inclination. To the point where it was getting resentful at spending money on food.
My focus cannot be on one single thing.

    I hope it's a good week off!

Is your flat 100% electric? Don't go cutting down on food to fight the electric bill, but perhaps set yourself a target of getting thoroughly warmed through once a day, to the point where you don't feel the need of extra heating for a while. That can be through work or going to a warm place, having a hot shower or whatever.

I remember when we moved here and the house had been empty a few months beforehand, the window cleaner said it would take a couple of goes to get the windows up to par. Perhaps that's what's happened with the one you did? And you've reminded me I need to do ours.

  • Ha not in my flat Cherry, I'm in my mother's house in Ireland. My windows are probably cleaner than hers even though the flat has been empty 🤣🤣🤣
  • Update from a very tired me.
Holiday had a bit of an identity crisis and forgot that it wasn't work 🤣 Nonetheless managed to enjoy myself amongst the childcare and relative wrangling.
That being said I had to have a nap this afternoon after we got home. Four cups of tea later and I'm still woozy tired so bed for me. I was supposed to be packing up my room ready for the move, I'm telling myself I've done the first stage of the 5S model. Everything is in theory in one place it just needs sorted into boxes and bins.
    Dentist tomorrow finally.
No word from electrician. Suspect ghosting.

  • Attempting to make the most of my last day of holiday by not going to bed.
As it turns out, I will need to move back to the flat on Wednesday. I am pragmatic about this as the reality is I can't plan for tuppence. There are far too many variables and quite frankly I would go live in a hotel for a week if I didn't live in a city where they were either expensive or awkward to get to.
I have not heard from the electrician which is fine as I can't afford to pay for anything anyway.
I think my preferred way of thinking is to move back with the bare minimum and progress from there. I do find it easier to understand what needs done when I am actually there.
My main focus will be making it somewhere I actually want to go.
    Random things-
Turns out I don't like curtains.
The kitchen area (aka the wall next to the external stairs) is going to be painted F and B St Giles Blue despite my concern that it is too bright. This is mostly because of all the 15 pots of paint I have, it is the only one that is not tester size.
Any kind of budget has gone out the window. Although I did just buy a single bedframe for 25.99 instead of £75.

Your 'random things' are pretty useful to know! Not having to bother with curtains will save stress. Are you going for blinds or bare windows? I remember reading a Scandinavian article suggesting that any sort of accoutrements round a window spoiled the beauty of the window itself, but I suppose you may need to consider privacy and warmth.

I missed what the electrician was for (electrics, obviously, but I mean specifically) but so long as you are safe, I'm sure additional electrics can wait.

Bargain bedframe! Next step is the mattress, I suppose?

And if the blue wall is too bright, you could be funky and paint stripes or a contrast feature. That can always be changed in time if needed - or just get a very neutral colour, though that may not inspire joy.

Can you identify a starting point for making your flat somewhere you want to go? Whether that's the peace and quiet or a comfy place to sleep or having your things and just your things around you... if you can find that, it may help.

Don't forget the kettle (or coffee maker, but a kettle is more versatile).

Mattress, microwave, sink, lamp, you'll be grand.
Everything else can be taken from there as long as you have leccy and water

    And a working loo
  • The window is road facing so some sort of window treatment is necessary- probably some sort of home made blind from whatever I have in the fabric box.
Lol the mattress actually came first, it was easier than the blooming bedframe. I was getting Ideas and then just needed something that would actually be delivered this week.
The wiring in the flat does need to be replaced as there are wires sticking out all over the place from when I ripped out the original kitchen. The electrician was ideally going to install a new consumer unit and run enough sockets etc all.off it to convert the little bedroom into a bedsit type arrangement. I've emailed to see if they are going to quote but I shan't hold my breath. I've emailed another company as well.
I do have electric it is just I wouldn't leave it running 24/7 so no fridge or freezer.
No microwave, I was leaning more towards an air fryer type situation both to save space and because I live near an Iceland and wanted their air fryer meals lol.
It looks like there is a petrol station washing machine near to me so that will be handier than the launderette. It's also beside KFC so cookies and tea while I wait plus free internet.
My recent reliance on comfort and convenience is not really who I am. I used to love experimenting and I'm hoping to incorporate that in my life going forward.
