Can I get some help with a fault on my sons car please

Hi all

I hope someone can help with a strange mechanical issue on my sons car- 2009 Ford Fiesta 1.6 petrol

The car has started to idle very poorly and often cuts out. There was also a report of excessive fuel smell. Our initial thoughts were a blocked cat converter, poor o2 sensor but an exhaust probe test revealed emissions are fine. No fault codes are stored.

So we are a bit lost as to what is the problem with the car and didn’t want to start changing parts unnecessarily

A bit vague, sorry but any initial thoughts appreciated

What is the service history? When was the last time the spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap were changed?

Oh I see. I think they do. I'm sure some newsagents still have "top shelf" magazines.
