if it was issued sep 12 then it was issued within last 10 years and it also had 3 months to run ( till sep 22) in may
i don’t understand why Ryanair are saying otherwise
3 months back from a 10-year validity (Sep'12-Sep'22) would be a date in June 2022. Your return flight was 24 May I believe you also should have been fine.
I would be tempted to reply to that last RyanAir response to thank them for the clarification, based on the same reiterate that your passport by their own admission was fine to travel on, that you were it seems wrongly denied boarding by their appointed ground staff - and would like denied boarding compensation.2 -
Thank you Westin, I appreciate your review of the dates too, I am so appreciative of all the replies. If I get any joy I will update again!0

Is this not a passport with time added on from a previous one? i know the EU do not recognise the UK system of adding time on if applying before it expired.0

EJ and Ryanair both admitted that they had wrongly enforce a 6 months validity rule and EJ had accepted that they needed to compensate those who were wrongly denied travel. Ryanair always seem to think the rules are for other people.I have to admit that I found the wording of the rules confusing. It seemed illogical that the passport was only valid for travel to the Schengen area for 10 years from the date of issue, but was still valid for travel from the Schengen area as long as it had 3 months remaining to the 'Expiry Date' on the passport. The expiry date can include the additional months added by the UK Passport Office. That however is the situation.0

Little update: ADR has 90 days now to give a final decision. Ryanair submitted some scary looking solicitor document still maintaining my passport was invalid, so I uploaded a breakdown showing it was all good with a margin of 13 days (taken from date of issue.) Final update to follow soon...5

@LouWW have you had a final decision from ADR yet ?1

Hello, thank you onashoestring for asking! I just got it: I was right, my passport was valid, so I missed my holiday for nothing
I got £350 comp (not paid yet) plus Ryanair has been told to refund my flights (£101)
So while I feel vindicated, I'm never going to see that money I bet.
It doesn't cover the cost so I'm out of pocket even if they pay but hey. I hope everyone is well!3 -

Well done for persevering with it. It's a good outcome, although it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Maybe you'll come back and update us when they do actually pay out (or not as the case may be!)
