How about this for a defence?
3. The Defendant was playing their weekly game of football at the xxxxxxx Leisure Centre. The Defendant parked on a side road where they had seen cars parked in the past and where there were no single or double yellow lines so appeared to them to be acceptable parking spots. The parking signs were missed and were very unclear, with very small font size. The Defendant believed that they had parked safely, legitimately and without obstruction. The car park was a free car park for xxxxxxx Leisure Centre customers and so a ticket was not required.
Is there too much unnecessary detail here? Or not enough?1 -
Looks OK.
Change 'very unclear' to inconspicuous.
And of course you will have added the extra words to parra 2 that the thread tells you to.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The thread says this:2. It is admitted that the Defendant was the registered keeper of the vehicle in question but liability is denied.
^EDIT THIS, IF NOT THE REGISTERED KEEPER^. You might add 'and driver'. Alternatively, deny being the driver in #2 (ONLY IF TRUE). If you don't know for sure, say say that).
Do you mean that I should make it say:
2. It is admitted that the Defendant was the registered keeper and driver of the vehicle in question but liability is denied.0 -
Never lie on a document with a statement of truth at the end; if you were the driver, say so, if not and you can prove it, then that is your (honest) stance.1

Just a small update. I've emailed the defence and received an automated acknowledgement reply.2

Another small update. I had a letter that arrived today dated 26th May acknowledging receipt of my defence and saying a copy of my defence has been served on the claimant.0
