I wonder if the inbound compensation claim is the issue then. BA view perhaps that as you did not fly out with them they are asking for proof that you found an alternative outbound flight and would therefore have been impacted if the inbound flight was cancelled. As you don’t have this (as you did not travel at all) they may be looking at it that only compensation is due for the outbound, not the inbound, flight. Not saying this is right but I can understand their logic more and BA asking for your alternative travel and them disputing the inbound claim.0
