£5.82 & £5.21 at 23-24 rates.  But a pre 2016 year, depending on circumstances, could add either value.  Or, again depending on circumstances, a pre 2016 year could add £0.00.  It is not as simple as just filling gaps.

my pension forecast has been all over the place while i try to fill gaps.  it now says:
"The most you can increase your forecast to is
    £203.85 a week"
But that's impossible isn't it, as the max is around £185 pw?

The maximum last year was £185.85. but the State Pension currently increases at the start of each tax year using the triple lock rules, which this year meant a 10.3% inflation rate increase to £203.85

Hi Molerat, Pinkks, Further to our exchanges last weekend, I hadn't intended coming back on this but to give a little hopeful feedback for others, I followed the advice. I sent off CF83 to HMRC, and I copied it by email to DWP as I thought it wouldn't do any harm to put it out to both. Lo and behold quote arrived today to pay 17 years Class2 which will more than double my UK state pension at reasonable cost. Stunning result. Thank you again for your help. :)
I’m astonished that you’ve got a reply so quickly but good to hear. I can only assume you must have jumped to the top of the queue as you’ve already reached SPA last month. My son’s form was received by HMRC last September and it’s still not been dealt with. They say they have a 36 week wait for non EU countries.

My State Pension forecast has updated overnight so I can see my 2022-23 contributions.  I just need to work for the rest of this year and then I qualify for a full State pension.  Even though I'm not handing in my cards just yet it's nice to know I've got the full deck.

I think you are right jem16. Somebody must have taken pity on the amount of exasperation pouring out of my covering letter. Whatever it was, I am very grateful to the person there who picked it up and sorted it, and I have sent a further email to say so.

While I’m here, jem16, I should also extend my appreciation to you for dragging me kicking and screaming from my original plan to buy Class 3 based on my partner's prior experience. Clearly you were quite correct and have saved me over 10 grand by your dogged persistence. Many thanks.

And needless to say, a salutary heads up for anyone in a similar dilemma over paying Class2 or Class3 despite what official advice you might receive, as in the case of my (now disgruntled) partner.

You’re very welcome and I’m glad I managed to drag you from your original plan. 😂
