Frugal living. + Just scraped in with my asd@ home delivery budget so as not to use any of my buffer. So I used £46.99 + £56.41.total £103.40 of my £107 budget. Just squeaked in but it meant not having to touch my buffer. Had about 8 no spend days too,as Mr Dusty has adjusted to the fact he doesnt have to do much shopping these days.Apart from asd@ being within budget,it has been a bit of a spendy fortnight.Bought myself T shirts and plimsolls. GD6 birthday. £63 unexpected phone bill due to Mr Dusty not using the phone card or whatsapp correctly.Could have done nicely without that,as I am saving up for yearly house insurance in September, around £90-£100 . And I have two birthdays later in the month. Glad I have cards and cash ready for that, and always budget ahead for things. 5 years ago I would be panicking :)Ah,the peace of mind of being an MSEer4

Cant get my yearly blood checks done by doctors as they are too busy.and apparently not a priority even though its a chronic illness. I eat alot of veg as aware my body finds it hard to extract vitimens and mineralsI have struggled to lose some weight,a steady 1 lb a month for 18 months. Was happy to see that double to 2 lb a month since April, but I have now gone onto metformin, and have put on 3 lbs this month. So depressing !Took MONTHS to lose a little weight, then effortlessly put on 3 lb in weeks. And then there is my thyroid. Since my TSH is borderline normal they say i dont need treatment, come back when it is higher! Despite me having nearly every symptom - weight gain, chronic fatigue, muscle and joint aches, hair loss, dry flaky skin, chronic constipation, brittle ridged nails, thinning eyebrows, depression, inability to concentrate, they would rather rely on an arbitrary single blood test result than actually LOOK at me!So like you I will have to up my intake of veg etc. Not much faith in that because of how my body doesnt make things like Intrinsic Factor,so I have to have B12. So excuse me if I dont have much faith in extra veg.Your docs sound like mine. They are proudly announcing that they are seeing 58% of the patients face to face. That means a massive 42% are not getting any attention. The world is going mad!

OK people, put out the flags. Bring on the party hats and party food. And the (virtual) alcohol. It never gets you drunk or ruins your liver FINALLY got the letter from the consultant 10 minutes ago. I have told Mr Dusty the tale - and he didnt say a word. Literally not a word. He's gone upstairs to his ''den'' presumably to think things through,he's obviously very shocked. Here's what the consultant said:''I am pleased to let you know that your recent CT scan resultsdo not show any evidence of any cancer and there is certainly no signs of any problems within the pancreas glandthere are some other things. Arthritis in my back is narrowing the spinal canal, causing back pain.I could be referred to spinal surgeons if I wish. No I do not so wish! Also there is a tiny lymph node seen around the stomach, which is probably not significant, but I could if I wish have a gastroscopy. The consultant would be willing to arrange this if I wished, otherwise if she does not hear from me she will consider me discharged from the 2 week pathway program. I do NOT want a gastroscopy,a camera down my throat, unless things are much worse. Certainly for now I have enough to cope with. Its a great relief to have that terrible panceatic cancer shadow removed. Something which has a 90% death rate within a year is pretty dire. It was so stressful at GD6 birthday party to see all those happy little faces and to think I would be gone in a year,in a horribly painful way.So with the shadow gone I can erase the last 5 weeks - or was it five years? - from my mind and tried to get some frugal living done. But today its all about celebrations. And I thank you for all the people who have been following my thread. 30,000 views in less than 8 weeks is awesome.I now am off to the kitchen (sound familiar?
Salmon for Mr D,he's gone to town, and is getting me fish n chips.Yum

I like the Jim Kelly novels too, Dusty but having grown up near Ely I don't recognise a lot of the places he describes. Have you read his series set in wartime Cambridge?4
