I had a text from Halifax years ago, first about a large order (it was genuine) and a second about suspect transactions on my account, they had processed one (which they refunded) and asked about the second attempt by the thief, it was via text and it was genuine. If you said it was not genuine it would dial the bank for you or recommend you call an out of hours number 03453511497

Mine came up as "halifax" and was 07860 035284 and another was 07860 035282

These are genuine, I had one in Spain for work immediately after I had taken an Uber to the airport and they wanted to confirm that I had paid for a taxi (quoting last 4 digits which had changed since my previous text), exact price I had paid)

probably a scam. Halifax wouldn't text you from a mobile number. Block the number, and report it to 7726
Already done that. Thanks for the advice. the calls to my phones were 03330.....so definatley not from Halifax.
    definitely
And, quite possibly, from Halifax actually -  mixed reports. So isn't worth blocking.

    Also mixed reports on

but most say it is a fraud.

    report it as fraud.
Such questions can't be answered by primitive voting. Few positive reports (if genuine) overweight much bigger number of negative ones.
You can treat a call as suspicious and call some other number instead, but by blocking the number you can miss something that urgently requires your attention.

There is part of what may be the problem, are the positive reports genuine. Planting a couple of positive reports would be a good tactic for a  scamming organisation.

If you ever get a call & are unsure it is from your bank.
Then simply ring a known number. Yes you may have to wait. Such is life.
