Utilita smart meter

Thanks for everyone's replies. Quite a lot to read through there. I'm not at the flat today to check it, however before I left I shut the mains off completely and guess what? The app still shows usage last night 🙈 I'll be back there either tomorrow or Tuesday and I'll have a check of it then.
So I shouldn't ask Utilita to change it? Only the people who built it?0 -
One quick question
Would it be unethical for me to open the other meter boxes and check the serial number?
In terms of asking each household I'd be worried in case anyone got annoyed that I'm about to have them paying the correct amount 🤣0 -

When you find it, you can then do the Meter Sanity Test to prove that it really is yours, and then you can be completely confident about taking steps to rectify the situation. You can also take a reading and calculate what your bill should be.Don't forget to come back and tell us the result !0 -

I wouldn't do that.0 -
The gas meter is for sure also wrong as there is use for each day, 60KHw usage at higher rate.
Or did you leave the heating/hot water running?

Well it turns out it was next doors meter serial number. I've told him to check the serial number on his bill in case he's been getting mine or if he's paying someone else's in the street. Straight onto the company that built it and Utilita tomorrow morning.3

I assume that was for the electricity. Did you also check your gas meters with him? Very likely if it is as "wrong address" as described above that you are also paying his gas.
Is he also still with Utilita? Same supplier should make it a bit easier to get sorted as the supplier does not lose money, or has to change somebody who is not a customer.0 -

I'm not sure how they will work it out in terms of previous bills though as I use very little energy overall. I'm not too bothered about getting it back really and I wouldn't want to suddenly land the neighbour with a massive extra cost given that neither of us is at fault.0
