They need at least to believe you are going to go to court in order to settle. A letter that bad that is clearly lying about having consulted a legal firm will not convince them of that.danjackson2021 said:
I think all that is true of the big company they don’t want all that which is why they prefer to settleSadieO said:
I'm not sure that's true. You might have zero money, but if you get into debt you have less than zero! And there's more to lose than just money. Fighting a difficult battle uses up your time, gives you stress etc. You might think they have "nothing to lose" but their quality of life could get a lot worse.danjackson2021 said:when someone has nothing they have nothing to lose😁0 -
Op have you obtained any accountable advice on this matter - yes or no?

I worked for a pretty big organisation and we very rarely settled and if we did it was because we had an unwinnable case (only happened once in a 16+ year career in HR). We took the view that if we got a reputation for settling it would increase the number of ‘chancers’ lodging claims against us. We’d rather spend £1000s on solicitors and barristers - plus we’d put cost orders against those with weak cases. So don’t make assumptions about ‘big companies’ and their appetite for a legal fight.danjackson2021 said:

Also, I imagine the stress/time/money aspect would affect an individual significantly more than a big company. especially if they are big enough to have a legal department/person in house. They will just do this as part of their day to day job without any personal costs.polgara said:
