This is madness. I can honestly see this descending into a campaign of harassment by the family members where you end up having to notify the police of all their ridiculous demands and unacceptable behaviour.

I think the bigger problem is how this thread is being kept alive a month after the OP last commented - I hope and assume from the silence that they managed to get things sorted with their new neighbours.

Whilst it is nice to get feedback on how things worked out, after a month of some people asking persistently, I think it might be appropriate for us all to assume the OP either has nothing new to add, or would prefer to move on, and thus it would be better let the thread quietly fade into history (unless and until the OP has something else to add) rather than refreshing it on a regular basis.

It is quite possible that the neighbours are normal friendly people and everything will be fine... rather than them being something approximating to borderline psychopaths in the way that some posters appear to believe.

Best read I've had on a Sunday in quite some time!!

As the time capsule has already buried and the left items collected it's too late to work on my suggestion - which was to empty the contents into a bag to include with the items to be collected but let them know that, yes, the time capsule had been buried as requested.

And yes I'd like an update too!!

Kind of my point.  It is one thing when a 1 post forumite vanishes with no feedback, another when a regular choses not to continue posting on a thread they started.... sleeping dogs (in bags for life?) and all that.

To be totally honest, if I was the OP I'd be feeling a bit 'hunted' and not by the previous owners!  If they want to comment/update, they will. I also take it that if there isn't an update, there is nothing further to say, and am very glad for them.
