Hi everyone and thanks for the thread Gers.
What a worry Scarlet! I hope DH is doing okay and the hospital can find out what’s going on.
Good that you made a small start to DMums house Nels, I’m dreading getting to that stage with my DMum who is very much a hoarder of food and things, plus crochets for England (who needs loft insulation….)
Glad you got on okay with the prospective client Ruby – great news.
Hope today goes as well as it can nmlc x
I am back WFH today after my requisite day in the office. Had to buy lunch yesterday as no leftovers to take and no suitable bread in the house. Will be popping out at lunchtime to vote and buy a few fresh bits and some bread from Sainsbobs. There is washing to do and the forecast looks to be okay for pegging out. DH did two loads yesterday and TD'd both - yes it was raining but we have space to hang it indoors grrrr.
Dinner tonight is sweet and sticky chicken from the S!imming Eats book. A new recipe for us so will see how that goes down.
Hugs to those in need of one, and get well soon to the poorlies.
Have a good day all

Morning Gers and all to come
Tough day at mums yesterday as you all predicted. Managed to grab a load of clothes for her so she has a wide selection now, along with some creams and potions she loves. The tough bit was picking some things to have around her. Took some photo frames of her, dad and us as kids and of course ducky also took her Paddington Bear soft toy I got her years ago Ducks were together again last night till I go over later. I did make some finds which had to come home with me like 2 Bero books brown and falling apart but will be used. Plan to cook some butterfly cakes to take to her and her new friends. It also had her Christmas cake recipe in with all her notes so that will be on the menu too. Mum thankfully was not a hoarder so whilst its still a big job its less than I know lots of you have had to handle. Now I say that but she did hoard food so for example 25 tins of mackerel 12 packs of kettle chips and 30 tins of soup. They will eventually be heading to the food bank.
I know I haven’t really touched the surface and it was tough enough as it is. Lucky to have her amazing neighbour to help out. She left with 2 tins of celebrations unopened and about 500 tea bags! Ill nip up to mum this week and start to deliver some her goodies too much to take in one go so think I’ll drip feed it over a couple of weeks.
You have my sympathies Nelski - THE worst aspect of the aftermath of my DM's death last May was clearing out her flat. Not only did she have so much stuff and mountains of food, she kept every little piece of paper from her birth certificate onwards. The real difficulty, for me, was that she treasured everything, she fought hard to achieve her freedom and financial security though never lost the fear of lack of food. For me the best way was to do it quickly. Your DM is still very much with you so trying to work through her belongings will be your difficulty, not knowing what she will want now or in the future. I wish you strength to get through it.Snoozer - at least you know what happened to DH, it's surprising to get indigestion from one beer, poor man, I hope that this doesn't mean he's not going to be able to have another.Whilst doing my exercises this morning I've pulled a muscle right at the top of my left hipstupid of me to try to push the stretch too far. And I've checked my rota for today and it's only one student with extra time, it's next Thursday I'm in with a huge group.
The forecast here is for gloomy and wet until 15 May - I just hope it's wrong!I'm going to patrol my garden on the lookout for slugs and new growth. The peanut feeder needs replenishing, the poor wee woodpecker had a hard time getting its breakfast this morning.13 -
Good morning, I seem to have missed a couple of days. Things a bit up and down here, the following will be a bit hit and miss, apologies for missing folks out.
Ruby fingers crossed for signing the new person, will be great to be able to hand in your notice.
Nelski I know it will be tough for you, been there myself too.
TA I had to grin at the thought of you stuffing Sparkles into the cat carrier, they don't give us any choice do they?
Gers and Camelot hope the rain forecasts are wrong.
Snoozer hoping that you are all on the mend.
Scarlett so pleased that it was nothing more serious with OH, hope you both can have a quiet day to recover.
One nice thing that happened here is that I have had a little win on the PBs, every little bit helps as they say.
Knit and Natter today, may not go, will see how things are later.
Take care all and have a good day.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)13 -
Morning all...Scarlet, good to hear he's OK now and that copious investigation turned out a much less scary reason. With Nel though, are they going to keep looking? Nels, thanks for that, I will go to Morrisons then, when I'm mobile. We've only cleared one house but it's the maelstrom of feelings that's wearing as well as the physical stuff. Nostalgia, guilt, happiness [at memories],fear, duty, it all contributes to the mountain. I'm really glad she's enjoying herself there, besdies the obvious guilt we all manage to give ourselves, it must be good to know she's got company and is safe. Ruby, fingers and toes crossed for more clients for you! TA, happy theatre attendance and good luck with sparkle. Maddie, hope you're a bit better. Nanny, hope you get better too....Off to vote in a bit, and have some excercise planned this morning. I am having one of those, well, what exactly are you doing with your life moments where one of things that keeps going round in my head is that is you don't change things, they stay the same. Sounds stupidly obvious I know but I'm back on a roll with some things being done regularly [ the Italian for one] so I reckon stepping up a gear and going for some excercise wouldn't hurt either. I made some very pungent roasted veg/lemon hummus yesterday, I can still taste the garlic now, so I have that again at some point today. When I got to vote I might see if I can get some coriander to chop into it. I've just had a panic thinking I've missed my eye test, phoned them in a tizz, turns it it's tomorrow. I have put it on one calendar for tomorrow and one for today, I confuse myself these days...Anway, look after yourselves, don't take nobrown smelly stuff from no-one!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Morning everyone
A bit dull and dreary here this morning - hopefully it might cheer up a bit later.
Was going to say I was expecting a Tesco delivery this morning, but he's just been so I'll get it all put away. Only 2 subs today - ham for different ham and Pampers nappies for little one instead of Tesco own brand. She just wears them for bed so they last for ages.
Just had a phone call from our local hospital to ask me to go to get 24 heart monitor fitted tomorrow afternoon so that's very quick! Lady said they'd had a cancellation and otherwise I'd have to wait about a month.
Sorry I'm terrible at the minute at reading and remembering what you've all written.
Scarlet - hope hubby is ok today - you must have got such a fright.
TA - enjoy The Lion King - I saw it a few years ago with youngest DD in Edinburgh - it's brilliant, you'll love it.
Better get this shopping put away
Oh can anyone tell me how to make a curry with sweet potatoes?
Have a good day everyone x13 -
Hi everyone,
I'm feeling almost back to normal but Steve and Laura are still feeling very ropey. The worst thing is that poor Esben has caught it and we had a very difficult day yesterday with his temperature shooting up. Hopefully he'll be a bit better today although he's currently back in bed with mummy, hopefully asleep.
So yesterday was a bit of a washout, I managed to walk Ziggy and that was about it. I think it will be groundhog day today. Brian has escaped the infection and spent the last two days in London, he's now gone off to Wales.
Scarlet, how very frightening and it's worse when you can't go with them.
Nelski, I hope things aren't too traumatic for you.
TA, enjoy your theatre trip, I hope you don't come away with unwelcome bugs like we probably did from Blackpool (we were about the only people masked up).
Have a good day.13 -
Morning all, the weather is dry again so another wash is on, mainly towels today. All the washing line dried yesterday but I still have to sort out those things and put them away then I need to take up a pair of pyjama trousers for Dad. They are miles too long for him and a trip hazard so I'll get my sewing machine out later. I'll make a start on some cleaning too, I've been a bit lax on that front lately, I'll just do what I can. I have a large bag of chinese style pork steaks that I bought from the meat man yesterday to split and re-bag as the chinese smell wafts out every time one of us opens the fridge door.
Scarlet glad your DH is ok, it must have been very frightening at the time.
Hugs to all the poorly ones, their family members and anyone in need.
Take care all

Snoozer poor Esben I hope he is sleeping it off and feels a bit better today
Nels I am thinking of you its a tough job so make sure you pace yourself x
Hugs and spoons to one and all hopefully i will be in a better frame of mind soon to get back into the swing of life and back to where i was. Stay safe and take care xSlava Ukraini10
