Morning all. Today's weather seems a bit brighter and is supposed to stay dry so I'll pop out soon for my weekly walk up to the Co-op for bits & bobs.
Well done Nels, I'm sure your mum will appreciate having familiar things around her. It can be overwhelming doing these house clearances so take your time (if you can), accept any/all help offered and remember to give yourself some TLC along the way.
Glad to hear your DH is back home after being checked out, Scarlet - it's not good when you can't go to the hospital with a loved one, you feel so helpless.
Enjoy your theatre trip, TA. Poor Sparkle, I hope she doesn't object too much to being rammed into the pet carrier - I had a mental image of a cartoon cat with legs akimbo resisting your efforts.
So sorry to hear Esben has caught the dreaded bug, Snoozer. I suppose it was to be expected but still not nice for him. Let's hope it's a mild dose.
DH had another fall last night - not hurt, more shaken.I'm going to have to pick my moment to have a discussion with him about seeing the doc for a check-up as it seems to be happening more than I'd want to see. Getting old is no fun, is it?
Tea tonight is sausage, chips and stuffed mushrooms. Maybe a mini cheesecake for afters.
Best wishes to all, especially the poorlies, those caring for others and anyone struggling with life in general. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Hi all, a quick one from me to wish Mr Scarlet all the best, a similar thing happened to DH before xmas but all tests ok- he got sent home with a box of omeprazole, scary at the time so big hugs.I've just made some scotch eggs and ratatouille.DH is meant to go to the opticians at the retail park to pick up his glasses but a lot of the roads have been shut this morning due to a serious accident earlier at a crossroads and the subsequent investigation.DS was late taking DGS to school this morning, & so was my Mr T delivery due to long delays. I hope everyone involved is ok.Stay safe and well x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)9

Snoozer sorry I must have missed your post about Esben, hope he's ok and gets mild symptoms. Give him a big cwtch from me.
YorksLass Sorry to see that DH has had another fall, I hope you can persuade him to see a GP, it must be very worrying for you.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
YorksLass - I hope that your DH is OK, falling is the bane of being older and you're right, it's no fun being old. I've only just accepted that I've moved out of the middle age category into the elderly one, it's a real shocker! Mostly falling is down to lack of muscle strength in legs as we get less active which is why I do exercises every day. Today I've pulled a muscle doing one of those exercises.
Would the GP or district nurse come out to visit? Worth asking.
Maddie - I hope that you have more 'up' days than 'down' ones.Taff - great positivity today!DP1 - good luck for tomorrow, a 24 hour heart monitor is a pain but also really helpful though it can miss any episodes of irregular heart beat - the nature of the beast.Snoozer - lovely to read that you're feeling better. Fingers crossed for the rest of the family.Bella -I hope that you can shake off the post-weekend blues.I've solved my hatred of making pom-poms by buying a pom-pom maker, another gadget but I'm so pleased to have it.My one student didn't use all her extra time so it didn't take much longer than usual. I found the exam paper really interesting, Modern Studies and almost made me wish to take part in more education.Tomorrow I'm off very early down to Glasgow for a medical appointment at 10.30a.m. then I hope to catch the new Dr Strange film before coming back home. I may or not bother depending how I feel and how this blasted pulled muscle does.8 -
