The first coffee of the day is always the best, even better when back in bed.Yesterday's plans went slightly awry, the student who I was to Invigilate didn't appear so I was able to come back home. Turns out that he had left school at Easter. I don't mind being paid for doing nothing.Today I'm on duty this afternoon, think it's a big group this time rather than the one-to-ones I normally do. So many more students now have extra time these days.My thoughts are with our poorlies and DM's too. It was good to read about the progress of Ruby's Mum. Nelski, take things easy.Happy Thursday to all.13

Morning Gers and all to come
Tough day at mums yesterday as you all predicted. Managed to grab a load of clothes for her so she has a wide selection now, along with some creams and potions she loves. The tough bit was picking some things to have around her. Took some photo frames of her, dad and us as kids and of course ducky also took her Paddington Bear soft toy I got her years ago Ducks were together again last night till I go over later. I did make some finds which had to come home with me like 2 Bero books brown and falling apart but will be used. Plan to cook some butterfly cakes to take to her and her new friends. It also had her Christmas cake recipe in with all her notes so that will be on the menu too. Mum thankfully was not a hoarder so whilst its still a big job its less than I know lots of you have had to handle. Now I say that but she did hoard food so for example 25 tins of mackerel 12 packs of kettle chips and 30 tins of soup. They will eventually be heading to the food bank.
I know I haven’t really touched the surface and it was tough enough as it is. Lucky to have her amazing neighbour to help out. She left with 2 tins of celebrations unopened and about 500 tea bags! Ill nip up to mum this week and start to deliver some her goodies too much to take in one go so think I’ll drip feed it over a couple of weeks.
Taff my beef cheeks were from Morrisons but used to be from a fantastic butcher near mum and Dads which sadly closed during covid. TA I agree they are gorgeous and well worth hunting out (cheap too!)
So today Ill sort out the stash but no other plans. Food plans are a bacon and mushroom pasta with garlic bread. Realised this morning I had forgotten to eat yesterday with all the goings on so woke this morning starving.
Have a good day all

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. It's fineish here, hope it stays that way, I've just put a load of washing in.I've just lost a longish post dammit - sometimes I can retrieve a lost post, but not this one. I can't do it all again, I'll do a shortened one.I didn't get to post yesterday, my DH went into hospital at 2am yesterday morning with a suspected heart attack..He had various tests, and they concluded that it hadn't been a heart attack, so he was able to come home about 1pm. I hadn't been allowed to go in with him but as the morning went on he was feeling better and messaging about his treatment, so I was able to forward his messages to the family. Thank heavens for tech, his messages were winging their way from me to our local family and to Australia, where eldest is, in seconds. We were tired of course after all this so once Dh was home we had a quiet afternoon and evening.I have no other news, not a lot happening today I hope. I need to do a small shop. DD would do it, but there's no reason why I can't nip out.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can - thinking of the Snoozers, hope you're feeling better, Nelski and her Mum, and I know there are others.Take care folks.15

Morning all
Looks to be a nice day here with wall to wall sunshine atm, off to work for me and its my three young lads today - good fun but exhausting.
My meeting went really well with the potential client yesterday she did not stop chatting, I think its because mum was not there to talk for her, I have another one tomorrow and if him and I get on and he confirms then I can hand my notice inI will have enough then to get by with until I can get a few more on the books.
Got some fish for dinner tonight its smoked hake so might do a poached egg and some bread with low fat spread, sadly not butter as just too many calories
DW been emptied this morning and I will put a wash on before work.
Nles glad it went as well as it could yesterday xxx
Have good days all xx12 -
Scarlett - glad he's home that must have been so worrying for you. Are they continuing his care to find out the reason?12

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light and dry but cloudy, air is cooler too. I have a wash load ready to peg out - will do that in a mo. Not sure wash load will get dry - but will see how it goes.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was rice, fish and a few LO bits for the menfolk. I had peppers stuffed with rice and a side of tomato, cucumber, avocado and black olive salad - lovely it was, a portion left for today's lunch. We have a funeral later to attend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Later start for me as it's an in-service day, despite multiple messages, I bet some pupils will turn up.
Raining again although fairly mild, we definitely seem to have lost that sunshine.
What a shock Scarlet, hope your OH makes a speedy recovery whatever it was.
Well done on making a start Nelski, it must be so hard for you.
Good news re the new client Ruby.
Money for nothing Gers? What's not to like!
Washing on the pulley and packed lunch made, I have a new flask so will see how well that works today.
Have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Hi Gers and Nels, - the whole thing started as indigestion when we came in from the quiz. He took a couple of tablets but it got worse and worse and he had a cold sweat, was sweating profusely, and I know a cold sweat can be indicative of heart problems. He seemed to lose consciousness for a few seconds and his breathing was terrible, snorting, snorey breathing. (he can't remember any of this) but can remember the intense pain in upper abdo, lower chest. This was when I rang 999.They were very good, we had to wait nearly 2 hours for an ambulance but they rang to see how he was doing in the meantime. When the ambulance arrived the paramedics were so good, did an ecg and took bp, checked blood sugar and asked loads of questions. As time went on he felt much better but they advised him to go into hospital for more tests.Any way, in hospital he had blood tests, another ecg, more questions, and they finally concluded that it had been acute indigestion.None of the tests indicated a heart attack. So he wasn't given any medication, because everything was normal. Actually for a man of nearly 76 he does ok, apart from the usual aches and pains.Sorry Nels, for the long winded reply! It was frightening, but he seems ok now. He'd only had one pint of beer when we were out - as Ds2 observed it must have been some pint to put him in hospital for a night.14

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a gorgeous start for a change, blue sky and sun and Paul says we shall have it most of the day. I also heard a rumour that we can expect a heatwave next week! Oh I do hope so I am sick of miserable weather.
I was up and at 'em with the birds this morning as I have a busy day ahead and wanted to be organised! DD is picking me up on the way to school drop at 8.20 and then onwards to the vets. More money will be heading into the vets' pension pot. Poor Sparkle I wish there was an answer to this ongoing allergy. And at 60 odd quid a time it's poor me too!!
Sparkle then to bring home and then we are off to the Company Shop. There is absolutely nothing I need but if there are bargains too good to miss then that's a different story!
Tonight we are off to the theatre again (the Alhambra) to watch The Lion King. The tickets were a Christmas present for us all December 2019!! Due to watch it in May 2020 but of course Covid scuppered that with all theatres closed. It was eventually re-booked for another season this May and our booking was carried forward! Then last week DD got an email from the theatre restaurant asking if we could pre-order our meals for the pre-show dinner! We had all forgotten we had booked it and as the deposit was carried forward we thought why not! Although with times as rough as they are we did deliberate on cancelling the meal. So it's a double treat in store for us tonight.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones or just fed up. SCARLET what a shock for you yesterday but so pleased it was a false alarm. NELS, you are right quite a few of us have had house clearing to do and can sympathise. I really hope your DB can step up to the plate for once and do his share or more. Take care one and all and be safe. Now I have the arduous job of rounding Sparkle up and ramming her in the cat carrier, wish me luck!! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14
