Hi all
Sounds fun Iona. My big brother is on his way North to spend the weekend with us. Paid stuff is done for the day. I have stripped DSs bed for my brother because I am sure it has been slept in a few times. So I need to make that back up, put a big pile of clean washing away, hoover through, make a rhubarb crumble and a vegetable shepherds pie, post DHs month end bills, pick up a parcel from the Spar shop, buy some veg, and make sure the house is fairly presentable. 4 hours before my brother arrives, just have to tell myself that he is coming to spend some time with us and have a little break, he is not coming to check my skirting boards for dust.
I was proud of myself for saying no to going out for a meal, although I did agree to a takeaway tonight (but that was to save myself from cooking). My parents are coming to eat with us tomorrow night.
Right, best get moving.9 -

Today's jobs:
- Close a bank account
- Write a brief Treasurer's report
- Check home insurance renewal
- Start a Gift Aid claim
- change my winter duvet for the lightweight one [I didn't do this because it has turned chilly again]
I cooked an enormous lasagne and there is a little bit to put in the freezer. While we were eating, my washing (hung outside) got rained on, so I have had to test my new TD to dry it off again. Pleased to say it works.8 -
Hello all
Have a lovely weekend YL xx
Iona - any chance of hiring out the 8 yo? - 8 hours sleep sounds a-maaz-ing!!
DD’s parcel dropped at new-to-me drop off point at 7am, Mr T visited to get the odd bits for tomorrow night’s get together that Mr M didn’t have / DH couldn’t find, Src£wfix c&c done, and all before getting to work at 7.59am. Full on day again at work, then home to cook dinner, WULTD, washing sorted for the morning. In pjs now, DH out, so I am in sole charge of the remote. Sewing Bee here I come.
Here’s to a full night’s sleep for one and all.9 -

Morning all
Well my weekend plans have gone pear shaped. My brother was about an hour into his journey when a warning light came on on his car so he turned around and headed back home. He lost power on the car in the middle lane of the motorway a couple of months ago so understandably was nervous about driving it any further.
Very disappointed, and its going to be tricky to find a date to reschedule I think, we have lots going on this month and next.
So, yoga done, bacon and eggs eaten, one load of washing in. Going to get a shower next and get dressed then I guess its a day pottering at home. DH and I will cycle tomorrow I think.
Hope you all have a good Saturday. Thinking about you Valli x9 -
Morning all,
More squishy hugs to Valli x
Hugs to you too, YL. You were so looking forward to the weekend x
So far this morning:
- Dw emptied
- wm run, washing outside, including DH’s t-shirt - the evil pigeons got their own back on him this morning for hosing away their disgusting offerings and dropped a pile of p**** on his shoulder. Missed his head - he is bald so lucky escape, I guess!
- moved the tomato babies from the DR to the greenhouse, as I need the space
- downstairs dusted and vacc’d in honour of friends coming to dinner this evening. Am hoping they don’t look too closely, but we always have the half finished plaster, half blocked up doors, and moth eaten carpet to distract them.
Just grabbing a coffee, then I have a cake to make that will serve as pud. This afternoon will be food prep - just easy marinated chicken and salad, in honour of slinky. Not sure where the cheese fits in that seems to have appeared in the fridge…
Slinky - scales report that last week’s 2lb gain seems to have dropped off. I’m taking that win after a week of salads and fruit.
